Had a great weekend with the Corvette in Edison, NY at the regional meet. Scored an approximate 98.5 Top Flight. Met some GREAT Corvette owners and learned a great deal. Was a good showing of all body styles, however, the survivor cars were in full force. The lighting in the venue was horrible and just about every body shot was blurry so I ended up with a giant collection of engine compartment photos. I will try my best to explain.
enjoy.

1969 L88 Coupe. 1 of 2 in the color combination (according to owner). 1 of 2 L88s at the show but the other car was was a '69 Maroon Coupe and coupled with the poor lighting, no pictures were of high quality.

1967 427/400 tri-power, 14k original miles. This car was pulled from the garage 1 year ago. No body shots because of lighting but the car was original paint, Goodwood/White, side pipes. This car had ignition trouble from day 1 and went to Motion Performance for some tuning. I have a picture of the receipt from MP but I will not post it. PM me if you want to see it.

'67s got Judged on Friday. I left my camera in the hotel room that afternoon and did not get any good shots. A buddy of mine scored a 97 Top Flight on his yellow/black 435 L71 Coupe, a stunning red/black 435 convert Top Flighted too!
A lot of restamped engine pads were uncovered and a lot of surprised Corvette owners went home unhappy. From what I understand -- 45 mini-points equals 1 full point. However, admitting the motor is not original and leaving the wrong characters on the engine pad -- not stamping the pad -- is ONLY a 25 mini point deduction (less than 1 full point). If a judge discovers a restamped engine pad, you CANNOT recieve a Top Flight. This is over a 6 full point deduction.

1966 L72 Covertible. Most say this is the best unrestored '66 Big Block convert in the country. Pulled from a Queens, NY garage 3 years ago. Bloomington Gold, Suvivor, Special Collection, Top Flight, and going for a 4 Star Bowtie. This car in untouched in every way. I have over 50 photos of the car if anyone needs more shots let me know. The owner is a sweatheart of a guy who loves to share information on the car!

Dan, nice engine shots! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I noticed that the unrestored LS-6 and the L-88 both had
natural colored engine lift hooks. They're usually done
in orange. Do you know if the LS-6 intake was ever taken
off or freshened-up?
Also, the '66 L/72 ( again unrestored ) looked great. I
espacially liked the amount of overspray remaining on the
exhaust manifolds.
BTW, I'd like to see more of the '66 L/72 engine shots if
you have them.

Steve, I wish I could give you an answer but I cannot. I would imagine the LS6 has never had a freshening, but that is a guess. As for the L88, it is a frame off restoration car so I would imagine the intake ans related parts have been restored.
The '66 L72 unrestored car is something else. I will scrap together some more pictures.
Dan, thanks for posting, I would love to see more pics!

First off... a correction: The show was in Edison, NJ... NOT Edison, NY. Sorry guys, long weekend.
Here are some additional pictures...
the interior and some detail shots of that '69 L89.

I did not know in '71 the LS6 came with orange valve covers...

Look at the original imperfections in the orange valve cover paint of the 14k original mile 400hp/tri power '67!

The green LT1 was restored by Stan Falenski who is a member here (Rowdy Rat). He sold it after the resto was completed. I judged each of the cars in the 68 through 72 classes.
Dan, I walked over to your car but no one was around. I left a big hand print on it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mark, I wish I would have known you were going to be at the show. Would have been nice to exchange information and make a friend. We'll meet up in Boston.
Thanks for the great shots, the green/white '67 435 was in San Antonio last August. Quite an interesting car in wonderful shape. The owner had stored in '73 and the engine wouldn't turn. He was going to see if he could get it operating. The car had the original battery in it, dead, but original.
