John,

Great job! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif Thanks for taking the time I think everyone wishes they could see (and hear) that stuff up close. Too bad about the Sunoco Camaro, that's a heartbreaker.

Thanks and yes...total bummer regarding the Sunoco Camaro.Word is out I have the detailed crash pictures but I have assured the powers that be that they will remain under lock and key until I hear otherwise. It's the only right thing to do.

Here's the pictures I took of your car Van...sorry for not stopping by,trying to get 3 guys in any one direction at a racetrack is almost impossible but I'm sure we'll hook up in Monterey.

Thanks for the great shots, I hate to see those damaged cars, though. Hope many of those cars will be at Laguna Seca in August. I'm going to see my old June Sprints winning '64 Corvette race there.

Johnny,

FREAKIN' Ouch http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif ! Those are some awefully sweet machines. Nice photos and congrats on the cover story!

BTW, Mark Mountanos's "other" Chevelle had a sponsor from a restaurant in Rocky Mount, VA. Any chance you noticed or have any more pix to see if the car came from Wickline Chevrolet in Rocky Mount? My '69 Chevelle was delivered there. Thanks! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Thanks for posting those pics. Wish I was there. Nice to see a Jim Hall car there too. My L89 was purchased new by him for his wife. He's a pretty interesting guy who has done a lot over the years.

I wonder if Ron Fournier will do the body work again on the Sunoco Camaro?

musclecarjohn
06-07-2007, 03:34 AM
I understand it'll go back east to the original fabricator who worked on the car in 1969...he restored the car 2 years back.

x44d80
06-07-2007, 06:29 AM
It looks like Ron was the original bodyman, Checkout http://taperfresto.com look under "Penske Camaro" The hood is a work of art and anyone who could pound out and stretch a rear quarter panel on a 69 Camaro without welding is a metal god.

Great pictures of vintage race cars. Bummer about any car that was damaged. So how did the Dodge/Plymouth cars get away with running rear discs if it was never an option? Or was it an over the counter option on the AAR and TA cars?

I will be at both the Monterey Historics and the Pre Historics... Tested at Sears on Wednesday and got the fuel problem that plagued me all weekend taken care of. Just a matter of getting the set up dialed in and we should be real competative with the other IMSA cars at Laguna.. see you there John and thanks for the photos.
