Was this the car at the Roanoke, VA car show this past weekend? It looks like the same car that I looked at there. Nice car ( closed up the times I went by ).
Yes, that is where I took the photos...Did you have a car there? I had the '66 Bel Air there http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Cool old town section is a perfect back drop for the vintage iron http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif . My '69 Chevelle roamed the streets of Roanoke from '69 - '77. Sold new at Rocky Mount's Wickline Chevrolet (Now it is called "The Collision Center"). Any chance you locals can help me track down some Wickline paraphenalia? Such as license plate frames, photos, advertisements, etc.
Thanks,

I'll be heading down to Martinsville next week sometime and I'll stop by the old dealership and peak around. Bird you have a very nice car.

Thanks Gary. Been thinking about taking out a want ad for Wickline stuff from the '69 era. I appreciate your effort.
..The brown / gold Vega he is speaking about was none other then the "Smokey Yunick turbo charged motor in a 15,000 mile 1971 Vega"... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
check out the attachment http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif
Gary, If you are in Roanoke...there is an antique store on Williamson road that is having an auction today...and again for the next 3 Saturdays...there is alot of car and gas station stuff in that shop....I recall ( 2 or 3 ) boxes of license plates and frames ( they were on the floor near the front windows...if you go there )
...you may want to check it out....and maybe get lucky in finding the dealership frames ....
..check it out
here is the website for the auction...with some photos

Sam, I grew up in Roanoke Va....graduated in 1970...
...and several years ago I believe I saw the ad for that car in the paper....It was a Black 396/375 1969 chevelle with red interior..and I remember it had around 28 to 30,000 miles on it....I remember it well...cause I could not afford it at the time and told a friend in Colonial Heights Va. ( Ronnie Staples ) about the car and I believe he bought it....He had several classic GM musclecars at that time....that is one sweet car http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif

Nice looking Vette.. but it's not a Baldwin/Motion "GT"... Not saying it isn't a Motion car.. but I wouldn't go around putting signs up claiming it as one of the original 10 GTs built when it's not... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

I missed your reply above. You have a very good memory. Ron Staples was in fact the 2nd owner of my Chevelle. He owned it for most of the nineties. Wayne Tuck was the original owner '69-'90 and he lived on Byers Rd, where his parents still live today. He was 20 when he ordered his car and probably graduated from High School in '67or '68. He told me the car had about 29K miles on it when he sold it. Sounds like that auction may be a potential source for stuff from a local Chevy dealership like Wickline. Thanks for your help. Here is some more info on my Chevelle in case you missed it.

...Ricky Smith had the car up there....he has helped with the restoration of some of Kevin's cars and is a good friend of Kevin ...not sure who actually owns the car...but it was the same one some of you saw at vettefest http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif
Wow...What a small world http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
...I will keep an eye out too for any Wickline chevy stuff.

I am still learning about these cars.....How do know it is NOT one of the 10? Are all of these cars built the same? Are they all 427 cars? ...I do not know for sure either way...just trying to find out http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

All the GTs were pretty much unique with one exception. They ALL had the slanted back rear window. Thats what made the car a Phase III GT. Here are a couple good threads on the GTs.

anybody know how to do that laid back rear window? Is (was) there fiberglass available? This car I have now HAD a laid back rear window but the underlying dec was never cut. Prior owner took it out and destroyed it in the process. Anyone have any thoughts on this modification? Thanks.
