Hi, I just purchased this vette, I am going to restore it, And I am intersted in asking a few questions, This car is a documented Baldwin Motion Phase III, It is in need of a total restoration, It still has its original orange paint and black stripe, Paint is rough should I strip and repaint or try to save the rough original paint, Any other information on this car would be a great help, Thank You!!!

If this were my car and the paint was original and the right side and rear looked this good, I'd try to save it.

Yes, Thats the car, Right side is the same, But the picture does not show how bad the paint really is.

------Since Rosen modified them and covered up the original paint anyway, I wouldnt see much harm in repainting even if the paint wasnt too bad.......Bill S

I would repaint it if you're going to do a frame off restoration. If you're just going to drive it and beat on it (which you should regardless http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) then I would leave the patina alone!

Neat car... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

See now THAT'S what a 1 of 10 REAL Phase III GT looks like.. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Having the open headlight front end added to an otherwise stock body Corvette does NOT a Motion GT make.. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Not the tail lights.. That rear window is what makes it a GT. The tail lights were different on all the GTs but they ALL had that rear window. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

Didn't Joel say he originally made the window like that so he could fit his dog in the back?...

That is exactly what he said. He also said that he wanted to make room for luggage for those "cross country" trips. That is why my GT was equipped with AC and the Hone OD which, with the flip of a lever, gave an overdive gear and changed the ratio in the rear end from 4.88 to 3.42! It is a little hard to see, but look on the passenger side of the console.

Hey what's up? I think unrestored orig. is sweet, but so is a full resto'. I've seen your car while searching on Yahoo, this is a real piece of history. These are the best Corvettes ever. In primer or whatever. You're worried about your 'vette's paint, check out my gallery.

Just me again, from www. and t.v. I hear that there are 10 that came from Baldwin Chevrolet. There were also covnversions. Motion Perf. did cars any way you wanted. Check out My Classic Car on the Speed channel, all you had to do was own a 'vette. The headlights, tail lights, reverse gills, the window, it all depended on the buyers taste and what he/she wanted on the 'vette. I read somewhere that Mr. Rosen won't disclose the total amount of Baldwins and the conversion cars.
