After making special arrangements with TC, I am happy to announce a new display for SCR10, with a bit of a twist;

As many of you know, my former business dealt in a variety of automotive related collectibles specializing in Original Ads, Brochures and Magazines. One of my personal favorites is the neat old Original Ads that were often quite "politically incorrect". Since I have an incredible inventory that numbers well over 100,000 pages, I thought I would share some of these at SCR10, so here's the deal;

Through special arrangements with sYc, I will be setting up a display with the "Top 100 Musclecar Ads" (or probably more) for your enjoyment. Now here's the twist; The ads will be on display during the indoor show portion of the event and they will be offered "Silent Auction" style to the highest bidder. 100% of the proceeds will go back to our favorite website.

The ads will be 100% original, loose mounted on acid free backer boards and wrapped in 3-mil plastic sleeves. They will measure 8x11, 11x14, 11x16 and 14x22 and will be suitable for framing. Great way to redecorate your shop or garage! (or living room http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)

Sooo....I am putting this collection together now, so if you have any memories of a specific "really cool" ad, I may have it! This is your chance to pick up an "instant" collection and donate to the best website on the net.

Oh...and to clarify, your bid will be for ALL of the ads as one big batch. Since doing it individually would be quite an undertaking, you can snag some ads for yourself and finish your Christmas shopping early!

I will listen to any "special requests" and obviously, we will lean heavily toward Chevrolet.

Bob,
If you have any left, might I suggest you do the same with your magazines. If not a huge undertaking, bring them in sets by years and set them up for the open auction. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Just a thougth. I know for one I would love to buy a bunch of your collection but do not feel right about contacting you for individual freebies.

Not a bad idea, Rick. Might have to put this together for SCR11, as I am headed to Goodguys Columbus tomorrow and have a wedding next weekend.

Anyway, don't hesitate to let me know what you (and any other sYc Members)may be looking for and I can deliver to SCR10. I keep all the requests too, so if I don't come up with it right away, I may stumble (literally) over it at a later date.

Thanks/BA

Here's another thought that I need everyones feedback on.

Since some folks may have no interest in certain brands, should we do the Silent Auction by brand? In other words, instead of one big group of 100 or more ads, would you prefer 10 or so smaller groupings, as in one for Chevy, one for Ford, one for Pontiac etc etc. Keep in mind 100% of the proceeds are for the sYc site, NOT for my own pocket!

If the majority would prefer it this way, I think that would be easy enough to do and may even be more fun.

I have dug in and can easily represent the following with no problem:

AMC
Buick
Chevy
Dodge
Ford
Mercury
Oldsmobile
Plymouth
Pontiac
Misc Non "Politically Correct"
Aftermarket and Dealer Ads

That is ten categories. Figuring 10 ads in each other than Chevy, which would be 20.

Let me know what you think and I will set it up in the way you all want.

Thanks go out to Charlie for pointing me in this direction!

Here's a few "Teasers" Captions to stir some interest:

"Luscious Linda"
"Love Me Baby"
"A Winning Pair From Moroso"
"The Judge Can be Bought"
"Chevrolet Super Performance is Nickey"
"This is Dodge Charger"
"There's Only One Great One"
"Snarl's Softly And Carries a Big Stick"
"How Much Camaro You Want Depends on How Much Driver"
"Carroll Shelby's Cobra GT"

That's it for now...we will see everyone tomorrow morning!
