Wow, what a pleasant surprise. Decided to go at the last minute and the weather was quite nice. When I first got there this is what it looked like....a bit light, but as the night came on a lot of folks decided to take advantage of the weather reprieve. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

This is Greg Fernald's latest creation. His business is SS/AFX. His work is first rate and his powertrains are deadly.

Not a muscle car, but a neat story. Guess I'm a sucker http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif . This beauty has been owned by the current owners since 1960. The lines on this Cadillac went on forever. She really drew a crowd....

This last car just grabbed me. I just about missed this Impala as it was late to the show, but I'm glad I didn't miss it. 53,000 miles. The owner was one year old and the youngest of six kids when his mother bought this nine passenger station wagon. He has owned it since it was given to him when he was sixteen. He had the presence of mind to keep it and not beat the snot out of it. Check out the option list. His mother wanted a 427, but the salesman talked her out of it - was that available in a station wagon? The color is Blue Danube Metallic, the patina was terrific with lots of original chalk marks. Current owner wants to do a "complete resto" which I attempted to talk him out of. He said he would think about it. He showed me a ton of original documentation including order form, build sheet, POP, owner's manual, accessory manual, etc. Booster and Master Cyl. are out for rebuild. Don't 'spect you see too many positraction, 396 wagons back in the day. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif He definitely had a cool Mom.

Sam... Yes the 427 was available in a wagon. A very good friend of mine here in Illinois and a big collector of SS427's has a 1967 Caprice Wagon with a 427 and a 4 speed believe it or not. He also has all the paperwork to back up that this is a legit car and all of his 427 cars are just stunning. The next time he drives the 427 wagon to a cruise night, I'll take some pics for you and post them here.

Rick,

Greg's site is SS and AFX (http://www.ssandafx.com/) . His attention to detail is impressive and he really stands behind his work. I know of two instances where he went above and beyond the call of duty in serving his customers AFTER the sale. Basic Package for either a 68 Hemi Dart or Cuda is $89,500. Base motor is 580 HP Hemi - Not a crate motor, but rather hand built. The beast he had last night was 700 HP on pump gas. BTW, I have no affiliation with Greg and SS and AFX - just a big fan.

P.S. One of his Darts is on my wish list http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif !

Thanks Sam. These cars are simply awesome and hard to believe that they can be build for under $100K especially considering they are not using crate Hemis. It would be really cool to own one of these and I see that one will even be coming to my neighborhood soon. I was thinking a Hemi Cuda or Duster built up as drag car would be neat. So cool!
