I viewed this car in person last Thursday in New Braunfels and it is stunning, I have no idea who the owner is. It's a very sedate looking car.

"ME" engine and 430HP rating would be a Zl1,not a 512 block ??

clopo
07-18-2007, 03:16 AM
The 430 hp is a misprint. There is no suffix code on the motor it had been decked when i bought it.It is a 512 motor dated oct of 68 . Date code of car is 12A. I am the owner and builder of this car

Thank you TimG I appreciate your comments. I took the car to Automania because Marty and Greg are good friends of mine.

I like the title of this thread "69 Camaro". Sleeper title just like the sleeper car that it is. Wolf in sheep's clothing!!!!!

For those who might be interested there are 4 CD's of the build on this car and also comes with enough paint to sray it again.DuPont Premier ultra jet black single stage The car also has Goodyear Speedway E-70-15 tires. I used 15x7 steel rims instead of 14's

Tim, I have told Greg before that Automania is like a Circus on Saturdays maybe I can hire you to give rides up and back on the access road for 20 a pop. How many rides would it take to pay for itself?

Curious how rare or unusual 69' Black Exterior (White Interior) COPO's were and for that matter Black 69 Camaros in general.

Does the above 69 Camaro have an original trim tag to match the colors or is the existing tag "new" ??????

I would like to communicate with the builder (or for that matter anybody) to find out what EXACT/SPECIFIC front coil spring was used. I need to correct my slightly nose high 69' COPO clone (T-400, headers, no smog)

Chuck, I don't know how many black Camaros were made from the factory but I can tell you this one ain't one of them. I put a new trim tag on it to reflect the color change I made. Obviously I am not trying to fool anyone. I built this car just like I would have liked to of ordered one in 69. Bought the springs from Rick's and they worked out just fine.

After going to all the expense and trouble to have the correct 4346 carb on my CLONE, I wanted to show off Erics beautiful work. The Cowl Induct air cleaner hides everything!

Is my seal right side up???

BTW, This cruise in Springfield,IL was upon my return from Nashville and the 2005 Powertour!!!!

CamarosRus

BTW, Eric's carb performed flawlessly, from out of the box, and throughout the Powertour, every start, every day!!!!

However the starter motor does hangup and wont restart immediately (has to sit for 7-10 min) when engine is hot (next to Hooker Headers) and so far I've done nothing to correct this small but occasionally iritating problem

Chuck...On the starter...I bought one of the heat shields from Modern Chevrolet. I run 2" Hooker Super Comps, so the starter is close to the tubes. Never had a problem with the starter.

I put a chrome plug in the lighter because I just wanted to.Saw no need for it. The dealer who has the consignment put that in add because he thought it was a neat detail.Lighters were standard
