I am in the midst of replacing the clutch in my 2000 SS. Any thoughts on what is the best combo as far as clutch and flywheel for this car. Does anyone know what the 2002 ZL-1 cars ran as far as these parts?

For normal street duty and occasional track action, a 2001 ZO6 Vette combo will work just fine. Going after market, a lot of guys seem to like Centerforce.

Heard there used to be a lot of problems with the centerforce street clutches?

I used to run the Mcleod in my blazer. It held up well, grabbed great, but not too aggressive for the street

Z06 combo is the way to go!

Curious...Back in the day many used Zoom or Hays. Are they still making them

Centerforce and McLeod are both good. I know a few guys with each. I don't know anyone running the Z06 setup though. The guys with Centerforce like theirs and I haven't really heard anything bad about them. I have heard the guys with McLeod say that it is a little aggressive for the street. But that just depends how you like the feel.

The Z06 clutches came in stock 01-02 Fbodies I think. My friends 02SS has one. It is good for a stock car but when you make more power than stock, i.e. cam upgrade, nitrous, heads, ect....I would strongly recommend a spec 3 or textrailia clutch and a billet steel flywheel. Check out http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=14, this is the manual transmission section and I'm sure you can get all of the information you need. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Get the ls2 flywheel and the clutch for the new ZO6 ls7. Mine holds great and it's a heads/cam car. Make sure you get the 01-02 hydraulics while your at it.
