Im currently in the process of fixing quite a few problems in a 69 Camaro RS. One of the biggest issues is that the car has no reverse lights. I have the correct wire for them, but no switch or neutral safety switch to be found. I may be looking in all the wrong places. Does anyone out there have any info on where the switch for the reverse lights may be located or is it tied in the neutral safety switch? If so then where is the stock location of the neutral safety switch? Thank you for youre time!!!

Its on the bottom of the steering column. Its a white switch and there is a linkage that turns the bottom of the column to engage the switch. Sometimes if you turn the key on, you can turn the lower part of the column by hand enough to engage the switch. Under the hood is where the linkage goes down to a pivot on the frame then back to the trans.
Neutral safety switch does have anything to do with it on manual trans cars.
Is your car an automatic or manual?

When we put headers on our cars back then, the first thing to go was the little piece of linkage on the steering column that turned on the reverse lights, as it was often in the way. When I see a muscle car driving around with the reverse lights on, I know it has headers. Like was mentioned, you can turn the lower part of the column to turn them on/off.

To have them work properly, you'll need to have the reverse lockout linkage between the column and the trans linkage, which will turn the collar on the steering column to activate the lights.

Neutral Saftey Switch..... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
What the hell is that.... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif I kinda love being able to "hit the key while in 1st gear" and just pull away from the guyz when you've been told how quik someone elses car is http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif
It leaves them in the middle of their sentences and dumbfounded on why their 5.0 or new-found muscle car can't do that! lolololololo

Thank you for helping me out on this issue. Upon further inspection the linkage on the column is no longer there. What ive come up with for a solution is a limit switch mounted in the gear shift area. When the stick shift is in the reverse position it will trip the limit switch that will be ran through a relay to handle the amperage of the reverse light bulbs. Easiest fix I could come up with. Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem. Cheap fix, just a little time consuming making brackets.
