What is funny, almost everyone who has been in the shop with all of the cars present say the same thing. I did not know Yenko did a Corvair. Of course up next is a history lesson.

I am learning the hard way, that the more cars you have, the more time required to keep them going. The last several weeks my free time has been spent on the BT Nova, getting it ready for York and SCR10. I need to spend some time on the DH FC, as I have a couple of shows wanting it, and the Corvair needs some TLC as well. Then there is the Vega and Chevelle.
And of course the wife thinks I have plenty. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Case #1, items from past SCRs and well as other shows, such as the Gibb show and Vettefest. One of the neater items is the Gold diecast, the prototype for all of the Yenko diecast, from Supercar Collectiblles. And of course an autographed t-shirt from SCR1.
http://www.yenko.net/attachments/280673-case-1.JPG
Case #2, items from supercar dealers other then Yenko. Original Motion t-shirt, emblems and catalogs, original Dick Harrell t-shirt and license plate, Beger emblem and catalog, and a few items from Nickey. Missing is Gibb stuff. Seems I always get out bid on anything Gibb related.

Case #3, Yenko dealership items.
http://www.yenko.net/attachments/280677-case-3.JPG
A wooden case used to ship race stuff in, the green thing is a cooler, and desk fan, all with the Yenko crest on them. Seems that went on everything they owned.

A couple of items of interest here, the blue book holds the original paperwork where they registered the Stinger trademark, an Don's Corvair shop manuel, which has the serial number of Don's 1965 Corvair. Hum...
One of the more interesting, and rare pieces, a Switzer turbo unit for a Vega, unit #001.
http://www.yenko.net/attachments/280703-case-19.JPG
The wooden crate from Yenko with original documents from the dealership. Corvair, Camaro (all years), Vega, Chevelle and Novas, as well as on the L-88, a Westlake engine program Don was working on and other papers. With the info contained in these folders, plus what several "friends of the sYc" have shared with me, is the reason the lists of VINs and other inforamtion is as complete, as available as it is.

Friday, Feb. 21, 1969. I think it was similar to what later became known as an IROC race.
Don Yenko was the winner as well as won the pole in what was reported as a 1969 Camaro. It has been debated that in fact it may have been a '68. Also in the race were Lloyd Ruby, Joie Chitwood, Rusty Jowett and Larry Wallace in '68 Camaros, Parnelli Jones in a '69 Mustang and Don White in a '69 Javelin. 37 cars in all, avg. sppeed on the 3.81 mile track was 104.036.

Hey..if I did not already have truck load of stuff for the reunion I might take you up on that.
But then again, I would not get to drool all over your stuff.
When I got most of it set up, Rob stopped in to see how I was doing and commented, "man..I did not know you had so much stuff". In boxes you kind of forget what you have.
If you want to add your stuff, I have extra space for some more. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif
BTW, it is all BKH's fault. I had never thought about collecting memorabilia until I saw his display at a National Camaro event, the same event he tricked me into agreeing to host a Yenko reunion. Man. has he cost me a lot of $$$ the last ten years. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

A little over 10 years ago I bought my first Yenko, the Yellow "Submarine". Once restored, I was ready to join the Yenko club and start showing with other Yenkos. Well, I sson found out no such club existed, and one of my first shows was the US Camaro Nationals, where to my amazement, there were only 3 other supercars. Thankfully, Brian Henderson was there, and we instantly hit it off. That is where the idea of a Yenko reunion was born. But before starting anything, I wanted to get the approval of the Yenko family, and as luck would have it, there was an article in one of the musclecars mags about a guy (John Connolly) out East who had just held an auction of Yenko memorabilia. I tracked him down and found out he was in charge of the Yenko estate. I introduced myself, told him what I wanted to do, and after a couple more phone calls, I received written permission from the Yenkos to use the Yenko name for my intended purposes.
So, with this letter in hand, the Yenko Sportscar Club was formed, a website launched and plans for a reunion put in motion. As the date of SCR1 approached, I got a call from the John, asking if I would be interested in hosting a auction of Yenko memorabilia at SCR1, which we did. Hope Yenko, Don's wife was on hand, which made the event really special. A lot of neat stuff was sold that day, but not to me, as since I was in charge, I choose not to bid. Thankfully for me, this was not all he had. Following SCR1, John asked me to sell much of the remaining inventory, on Ebay and other avenues, with my fee being I got first chance to buy stuff before it went public. As you can see, I bought a lot of stuff, and who knows if my investment was a smart one, but I had this dream in the back of mind of one day having a "mini-museum", dedicated to Yenko.
As word spread about SCR1, I received calls from owners of non-Yenko supercars, asking me to consider including all supercars, which we did. That is why the Supercar Registry was formed, and that is why there is a case dedicated to the other supercar dealers in my showroom. The SCR was the first show of its kind, though out the years having dedicated shows to various supercar dealers, not just Yenko. Who would have thought SCR10 would be just around the corner? Not me.

Linda, by word of mouth and through this web site, which BTW, my son Rob designed and has ran since day one. It helped that Brian Henderson was one of the founding fathers of the sYc, as he had many contacts in the world of supercars. SCR1 was covered by MY Classic Car TV, Super Chevy magazine and Musclecar Review magazine, which gained us instant national exposure. Since then, on TV three more times, and in print way too many times to count. The list of celebs who have been to past SCRs reads like a who's who in the world of supercars, which has given the reunion even more credibility.
Also, we have worked with other shows, such as Vettefest, the Gibb show and York, where we help them attract supercars and the sYc gets the exposure. That part I really enjoy, as there I get to sit back and just enjoy the event.
The bottom line, I do not deserve all of the credit, as through the years there have been many, many folks who have gone out of their way to make the sYc and SCR what they are today. I do not think there is any doubt, in the world of Chevrolet supercars, the sYc and SCR are #1. My hats off to all who have made this happen. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
