Ken.............thanks for posting pic's for those of us unable to attend this year.

I saw Annie, Rick, Howie, Schone and saw all the cool cars including D.C's but didn't see any pics of the old fart himself. Were ya afraid he'd break your camera? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Huge turn out down there again. The weather was pretty good, and the cars just kept rolling in. Ken's Biscayne is very, very nice. The ultimate sleeper.
Best find of the night for me was a survivor 69 h/o Z28. The guy bought if from a widow. It was a virtual time capsule. Even has an endura bumper. Very cool piece.

What's up with the Z16? Did he bring his own stantions and ropes to a cruise night? I would imagine that there were a bunch of cars more in need of crowd control than that car. If you're that nervous about your car, you probably should leave it home. Just my 2 cents.

Just an idea of the crowd this event draws. This is looking South from the town square, but it really didn't matter which way you went. Amazing!
BTW, the pretty lady in the lower right is Patty Tatman, the wife of one of the event coordinators, Kenny Tatman. She's a sweetheart.

I have a question... Why aren't the centers of the inside pair of tail lights clear (for back up lights)? I'm not critisizing this car by any means, this car is absolutely gorgeous, but these tail lights are different than the ones on my 70 Z28. I don't know the answer so I figured I'd ask and someone here is sure to have the answer. Thanks!

That '70 L/78 Camaro has the short rear spoiler. I always
liked that one because the taller 3-piece version was so
prevalent that I got tired of seeing it.

Nice images!

Thanks!

Randy,

This might help you out. The Z21 style trim group included brite accenting trim around the rear tail light lenses. Based on your picture provided, your car does not have the Z21 trim. On the contrary, the L78 does have the Z21 style trim. I know you were not directly asking about this but the brite trim around the lens makes the difference.

It’s good to see these 70-L78 cars finally being restored. I think this is only the third one I have ever seen finished. I know of 4 in the process of being restored now. Unfortunately the tail panel on this car is flat black which is wrong.

------Mark,,,I think we all just went thru some thing very similar to this, although you may have missed it. Im hoping we didnt push out a couple of the very best members we have in that debacle. In the world of restored Chevys what real difference does it make weather the tailpanel is flat, gloss, semi-gloss or purple for that matter??? The owner may or may not know if its correct or not. To my way of thinking though it can be easily changed by the next lucky owner if and when there is one. The owner may appreciate the input, but then again he may NOT. I really dont see the sheen of a tail-light panel, no matter what it is, as being unfortunate! I do believe you meant no harm but I, for one, am re-thinking how to post in the future. I think it behooves all of us to focus on the posatives rather than dwell on some of these minor (in my eyes) negatives. Hope you choose not to take this the wrong way......Bill S

I agree Bill, let's focus on the positive. As I was getting some shots of this car, John and his friend, noted Camaro guy Larry Christensen (sp?) were sitting behind the car. This exact topic came up. We all three agreed, we tend to reproduce what we remember from the day.
Bottom line; I'm POSITIVE I like this car, and it really doesn't matter how the tail is painted. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

(And BTW, it isn't really flat. I guess I need to take more time composing my shots so they more accurately represent what's really there.)

I agree Bill. I think the car is “Gorgeous” and whoever restored the car did a Great Job. I have a good eye for attention to detail and I know these cars real
well and could probably pick it apart but as you mentioned this is not the thread for that. If I offended anyone that was not my intention. Personally I want
to get peoples opinions on my Restorations; Good and Bad. This is how I learn. I am thrilled to see another 70 Camaro SS/L78 come out of hiding and get restored.

Mark,

don't even go there about tail panel colors.......some real strong opinions have really hurt some superior members here. HOW IN THE HELL did we miss this show???? Hell, this is driving distance for us? Me in the Camaro and YOU in the Impala! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

could someone here let me in on the show schedule at Monmouth? I'm in Mt Laurel

Here is picture of my 70 L-78 tailpanel with survivor paint.
Hard to tell in pic but black has significant gloss; much more than Gold Camaro above.

Interesting to see how the SCW is having there 69' Camaro back panels repainted. Very glossy, some would say FULL gloss. I'm sure Brian knows best and has evidence.

(Below pics of Kenny's L-78 and the Arone/Pascoe L-89 as seen at the 2007 Carlisle CAMARO NATIONALS)

I realize that from just looking at pictures it is easy for these "is it correct" questions to keep popping up, and causing the yes it is, no it's not arguments that lead to hurt feelings. I have been reading these threads for the past 5 years, and I know people that have left this board because of it. Sad loss in all cases.
Here is what I have done to stop the nit-picking thing about my car. For the first few years that had the car, I would show it in the "do not judge" class. However, if I went to a car show like this one, I got real tired of people offering me the same observations about what was incorrect with my car. Hard to believe that people can be even more rude in person than on a board like this.
My solution was this:

OK, first off; I'm not defending John's car. Quite honestly, I don't care about this subject either way. What I AM saying here is; the tail panel of John's car IS NOT FLAT BLACK! I could apologize for how the photo appears.....or I could drive to Colorado and try to get a better shot.......... but I won't. It really doesn't matter.
Larry, John and I chatted about the finish and, in my humble opinion, agreed that it is 'close to correct'. I could best describe the finish on this particular car as looking like old Dupont 99L Lucite straight out of the gun; no clear, no rubbing, no polish, no nuthin! If any of you are old enough to recall what that looks like, you can relate. If not,............... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Just for the sake of changing the subject. John's car was built the same month/week as mine. 100 VIN #s off from mine. I thought that was cool.
