I have an original 1112000 distributor for a 1970 L-78 396/375 hp motor. It is dated C/18/70. The date code is to early for my car so I can not use it. The distributor looks to be in very good condition but I would not use it until it is tested. I am asking $495.00 for it but I am open to offers. Please e-mail me if you have any questions or if you want pictures. Thanks for looking,

this distributor also came on 396/350hp auto trans cars.
so its not a rare item like some think it is.

I would gladly trade this for the same part number distributor in the same condition that is closer to the 05D date code of my car.
This shouldn't be that difficult for you to find,as they came on all 1970 TH400 equipped L-34 Chevelle-Nova-Camaro.
All I have is two 9 H 7 dated 2000's left.

The latest date I have seen is a mid-April 1970...it is in our 1st week of July L78 nova. Don't know if that helps...

[/ QUOTE ] Mark, that date seems more than fine for your build date .
A March dist. date for a May built car is perfect so long as the engine assembly date is after the dist. build date.

Thanks for the input everybody. Right now it looks like I have a combination of a March carb, mid April block, late April trans, March distributor, April alternator and Jan rear end. All this for a late May car, what are your thoughts? To be honest if the distributor does not sell I will put it away and will probably run an MSD digital because I have always had good luck with them. Also the block checked out with over a 100 thou thickness in 4 sides of the bores in all cylinders after I go to 4.250. I think I will run 990 open chamber heads or see if I can find some fairly priced 074,077 aluminum heads and bump the compression then see what kind of power I can make out of a 427 that looks like a 396.

All of the component dates you listed are just fine for a May built car. The rear is perhaps a little early, but still well within an accepted range.
