View Full Version : Are wheel dates too early??
Would a set of January '69 dated YH ralley wheels be too early for my 05D double COPO? If I spend this kind of money I want some that will be correct for judging. Thanks.

Last fall I finished up a retoration on a 69 Camaro Dbl. COPO that had one original YH wheel in the trunk.

My old '69 RS/Z still had 4 of the original YH's on it. It was an O2C car (3rd wk Feb) with Jan 20 dated YH wheels. All four wheels had the same stamping flaw on the centers. By sheer luck, I found a fifth Jan 20 wheel in a stack of Rallys at a swap meet (sans flaw), and an original E 70 Wide Tread GT on ebay that had been mounted on a Ford rim, listed with no reference to anything Z/28 or Yenko, or even Camaro. Sometimes things go your way.http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
FWIW, that 02C car also had the following:
Feb 5th DZ block
Jan 6th M20 trans
Dec 20th BO-coded (3.73 non-posi) 12 bolt rear
Los Angeles car, had POP and tank build sheet to support, 12439L5246xx

I'd expect a later wheel date for that build date. Most I've seen are April or May for a May car, though there are exceptions. It wasn't a FIFO system. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
If it was a first in/first out process, this Hobby would be a whooooole lot easier.
