I just returned from a cruise in my 68 Z28. Funny thing happened when a father and his 2 sons pulled beside me at a stop light. The father wondered if I could show his 13 and 15 year old sons what Detroit muscle was . I wound the 302 up to maybe 4000 RPM popped the clutch and burnt 200 bucks of Bias-ply tire off. He pulled back beside me and thanked me for educating them. Who knows maybe they will catch the fever.

A buddy of mine in California says the local cops ignore the vintage musclecars and hot rods (getting on it and having fun) and go after all the fart-piped imports. Same buddy was riding in a blown Camaro a couple of years ago and a cop gave them the thumbs-up!

Yes I think the police have more problems with the foreign tuner cars and their pounding #@%$^ing music

That's the only way to describe those @#*&% things! I've heard them called "coffee-can mufflers" and that just doesn't provide the proper amount of disdain and denegration that the term "fart-pipe" does. I also call them "fart cars" and my kids just crack up.

I love my WRX STi but FART PIPES SUCK. (Bumpersticker idea anyone?)

There is a lot of truth to this....couple years back I was driving the black 4 speed car in Pouhghkeepsie, NY (where I grew up)..local town cop rolled down his window and asked if it was really a 396?? I told him yes and said that back in the day the town cops used to break my b*lls when I drove my first 396 Nova...this guy was about 22 years old and wasn't even born when I had that car...he laughed and asked me to do a burn out...I obliged and he gave me the thumbs up...I guess age has it's benefits!

I remember back in the day i was driving my supercharged 67 Acadian, i got pulled over for no apparent reason and there was a senior officer and his rookie coming up to greet me. The old man started spouting off about the car, on and on about menace to society, bla bla bla..........while the kid was all over the car and wasent listening to a word from the old man and was just asking me questions about the car. When the old man saw that nobody was concerned about his banter and saw that his point was lost on the rookie he cut me loose with a warning (for what i don't know). As i was leaving i could see the young guy getting a lecture.

I think I am on the right path. I restored a 1968 Camaro for each of my kids. The daughter gets a true 68 SS/BB not numbers matching and the son get a 327/210 numbers matching coupe 4 speed. Both of them love Camaro's and they are only 22 and 24. I guess I did something right in raising them.

Yes you did the correct thing with your children. I have restored 2 car for my son and daughter . Son gets a 1968 california Z28 and daughter gets the 69 small block convert.
