This is the problem with placing a car on e-bay. Last time the bids didn't come close to the BIN for this car. The worst part is that a new price point was set. This time the final bid will be lower then the first, IMO. Nice car.

I think most people that put cars on Ebay think as I do and that is to set them high and try to get all the money, but if it does not sell you can relist it at a more reasonable and market correct price. At the end of most of my auctions where the reserve is not met buyers can have a second chance to buy but I have never sold a car that way. It seems to me alot of the bidding is for fun by many of the buyers and just to have the excitement of bidding on a high dollar item and hope you dont smack the reserve and have to retract you bid. The bee is a very nice car and I really think its on the money now. I had the chance to take it out for a few miles and the car does act and drive like a low mile car but let the buyer be the judge.

EBAY, like it or not is a great way for a person to get his car in the eyes of millions of people almost instantly for 50.00, i personally feel that the quality cars may not sell on the auction but will sell because of the ad placed there,

Thats so true,and have you noticed the hundreds of late model dealer adds on Ebay that are asking for offers. I really hate when they do this because it takes much more time to scan a large groupe of adds from a specofic search like closest to you.

The actual sale rate on E-Bay for Classic Cars is less than 22%. Most are sold outside of the auction.
It's a Sad state of affairs that if asked, almost anyone even those who have no knowledge of Classic Cars will say to Look on E-Bay 1st.
Hemmings, Old Car Trader and the like have taken a big hit by this.
Also, most cars are either overpriced, overdescribed, or Inacurately described, that is most common.
Things such as,
1. Runs Strong - The owner has no idea how the motor was rebuilt, but he states it "Runs Strong"
2. Numbers Matching, but the ad states the car has a 1972 Block, when it is a 71 car.
3. Highly detailed, these are the best, Pop the hood, and there are Rusty exhaust manifolds, or even worse headers. Dirt and a Flat Black engine compartment in a Mopar. Or an engine compartment that looks like it had a fire.
4. How about a set of Drag Star Wheels, or the wrong year factory wheels.
5. Has had minor rust repair. That usually means there is enough Bondo to build a replica of the Statue of Liberty in Full Size. Bring a Magnet.
I could go on and on, but, I think any educated buyer will see through the crud and be smart.
And when in doubt... Go See The Car.
Talk to the seller, call him. If he has owned the car a while he will know a lot about it. Much more than "Runs Strong".
But most of all Go See The Car or Send someone you trust.
It's cheaper than buying a "Pig in a Poke".

The bee did not make the reserve even the second time at auction but it sold right after and the buyer was very happy with his purchase. The thankyou word from a buyer makes it all worth it, and the sale is complete. Quoting a great seller here with nice cars( sold sold sold)....
