Anyone ever use Pay Pal to buy a car on eBay? Just curious--might buy a car off of eBay (under 20K) and Pay Pal seems to have buyer protections against fraud.

I've used it for deposits, but never the full price. I have this thing about for for something without seeing it. Also, the seller may ask you to pay the 3% charge. Anything I sell over 1k I ask for cash, check or money order then say that if the buyer wants to use paypal they have to add 3% to the total.

If an ad says the buyer must pay 3% for paypal, ebay will delete the auction. Nothing wrong with a seller asking for the 3% especiallyon a big purchase..for every 10K of a cars price .its 300.00 in paypal fees !!

Just be aware that a paypal payment, although instant,is not instantly accessible.
Some sellers are not aware of this, and get really aggravated finding out the payment takes time to clear just like a regular check, after they've already sent out the item.
Or the buyers are aggravated because they want the item NOW,and the seller wants time to confirm it first. It can get heated sometimes..
If I'm a money recipient,I will not send out the item until paypal has given me the green light that the funds are now sitting in my bank account, after I request the PayPal transfer to put it there.

Paypal has always been instant for me. An Echeck is not instant but the fee is capped at $5. Not a bad deal in my opinion!

The fee is really not so bad. Paying by PayPal protects the buyer from all types of fraud. If the seller accepts it I would use it. The 427King says if they state a fee in the listing it will be pulled. That is becuase it is against the rules to charge the buyer the fee for any card transaction. If the seller said they would accept PayPal I would use it. Like I said an Echeck is capped at $5 US.
