Did anyone see the 1969 Bill Jenkins ZL-1 heads (item # 250156059299)for his 1969 Camaro on Ebay?
Does this car still exist?

MAN!

Stamp "JENKINS" on a set of '074 heads and you add $6,000.00
to their value. $8,300.00 final bid http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I'm not implying that the seller did anything wrong, but how
would anyone know these heads belonged to Grumpy Jenkins. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Nuch

Because they were a matched set with early dates likely indicate that they were on a real ZL-1. Find me another matched set of early (Jan, Feb. 69) 074 heads in mint condition without "Jenkins" name on them and I'll give you eight grand for them.

Same seller has an "original" PF25 oil filter too.... NOT!!!

Fake PF25 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=015&sspagename=STRK%3AME WA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=250168040698&rd=1)

also sells lots of new, dated Holley carbs too. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif

hey ZL-1 #17...I believe I have 2 sets of early dated zl-1 heads... not including the original heads that came on my original ZL-1 motor....I know for sure that i have a mint set that were totally restored by Jerry M......maybe I'm out of touch with the current prices because I really havent sold much in the last 20 years...but for 8,ooo dollars...I'm a seller if you are serious...

BTW...these 'grumpy' heads have been around for a while...they were offered to me atleast 4 or 5 years ago... (I guess thay have actually been around for almost 40 years...hehehe)

I would not make the post if I was not serious. Call Jerry and refresh his memory on the heads. I will call Jerry and get his opinion on them, if they are what you say they are, I will place my $8,000. on the table. Fair Enough?

Again, THE DATE CODES ARE VERY IMPORTANT, I too have four sets of 074 heads, March, April, June, I specifically stated Jan. or early Feb. 1969 that I will pay top dollar for.

It would probably be safe to say that The Grump had MANY, MANY sets of these cylinder heads. In fact, it's probably a bad thing because there's no telling what's been done to them such as angle milling, etc. Be interesting to see what happens when they're mated to a stock block and stock intake manifold. Someone paid a lot of money just to be able to point at that 'JENKINS' stamp at car shows for bragging rights.

The story goes that Grumpy got the engine out of the #14 car that was sold new at Ammon R Smith. That car has an 02D trim tag.

well heres what i came up with...the set of 074 heads that jerry m. rebuilt for me are actually the earlier set..dated 7-17-8 and 8-31-8...these are the earliest 074 heads i've ever seen and must have been on one of the very first ZL-1 motors i would guess. I gave Jerry all new valves, springs, retainers,pc seals, etc. for the heads. i looked at them for the first time in a while and it seems as if maybe he did not reskin these heads as they dont look reskinned.
Another set I have are dated 11-9-68 and 11-11-68...these are in used cond. and came off a running motor. For 8k I'll send either pair to Jerry to have checked/rebuilt to your satisfaction.

the heads on my original Zl-1 motor are both dated 11-9-68 for an 02D car with a late Jan cast original block. I would guess that Jan or Feb head dates may be late for a Zl-1 built prior to 02D. what do you guys think? does anyone know of any 074 heads prior to July 68?? The first Zl-1 was dec. 31...when was the first L-88?? thanks

Once again, thats the reason why the Jenkins Heads sold for $8,000. I SPECIFICALLY SAID JAN. OR EARLY FEB. 1969. You are comparing apples to oranges. I could care less about Dec. 1968 dated heads. I WILL ONLY PAY TOP DOLLAR FOR JAN-EARLY FEB. 074 Aluminum ZL-1 Heads.

Chuck, find me a mint set of Jan or early Feb. 074 heads and I'll send the eight grand tomorrow. Just give me the guarantee that they are not milled to the bone, and will pass a pressure test for cracks.

ZL-1 #17...I dont believe that the Jenkins heads sold for 8300 because of the date...that was my whole point to posting here...I suspect somone was taken...I'm sure if you posted a wanted ad on this or any other site, you could find a set for 8000 dollars ...they are not common with early dates, but they are out there..I see chuck seems to have a few...like I said, maybe I.m out of touch...I have never seen a set sell for 8000...i've seen early dated NOS heads sell for 7500. within the last year
I never really had intentions of selling my heads when I posted. I was just making a point. I apologize for wasting your time with my Nov. dated heads...but i dont think I deserve the attitude that i've been given. I think there is a way that people should be treated..."I appreciate your looking, but I'm really not interested in Dec dated heads. I really need Jan or Feb dated heads, but thanks anyway" might have been a way to go about it ...not "I could care less about Dec. 68 dated heads" "I SPECIFICALLY SAID JANUARY OR FEBRUARY" I read your prior post and you made this very clear...i just felt that you deserved for me to follow through and spend the effort to dig out the boxes and see exactly what I had so you did not think I was ignoring you. I did not PM because It seemed that you would probably not be interested in these earlier dates..

BTW I assume that if you are looking for heads for the #17 ZL-1 that they would be dated prior to my originals...which are Nov.9 68 dated on an 02D car...I would assume your block is also dated prior to mine...I'm not saying this in order to sell my heads...I could care less about selling my heads or any parts...just trying to honestly help and let you know what came on my car....which is an 02d car...If you are trying to build something different, my apologies ..and good luck!!

FYI those arent the date codes. Im sure they were shown for that purpose but those have nothing to do with the dates . From what i can see the heads are the non dated variety and are D ports. My guess would be 1975 or newer.

I apologize if I offended you, that was not my intention. PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLOGY. Yes I agree spending $8,000 on aluminum heads is ridiculous, but Jan. dated heads are hard to find. My "public" offer was for a MINT set of Jan. early Feb. 074 Heads. Since I had made the offer in public, I wanted to make it perfectly clear the perimeters of my offer because I like others like to post on this board.

hey ZL1 #17...no problem...apology accepted...thanks...if I notice any heads for sale that seem to be what you are interested in, I'll send a post your way...I wish i could have helped in your search. Part of the fun ..for me anyway...is searching, and then finally finding the rare parts that I need for my cars...its just a shame the hobby has gotten so expensive...so good luck and have fun searching!! max

Plenty of deck surface in corners not like 99% of aluminum heads that have none.
