I went and saw THE KINGDOM after work yesterday and I must say it was a very good film. Peter Berg did a great job setting the tone with a little history lesson on the US - Saudi relationship over the past seventy years. This is done well during the moving graphics of the title credis. Danny Elfman did the score, but it sounds more like a Hans Zimmer style of music to me.

The cast is great, Jamie Foxx does his thing and is believable as the team's leader. Chis Cooper and Jason Bateman are great and funny too. Jennifer Garner with an MP5, how hot is that. Jerremy Piven is also very funny and annoying in his supporting role. I can't remember the actor that played the Saudi police captain, but he was a character that you grow to like through the film.

This movie is kind of a CSI meets BLACK HAWK DOWN. The first 10 minutes a intense and hard to watch, with a surprise that I didn't see coming. There are some slow moment in the film, but it works for character development. The last 20 mins are some of the most intense scenes that I have seen on film in the past couple of years. Reminded me a lot of CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER and BLACK HAWK DOWN.

Not a great film, but very good and well worth seeing. Had it moved at a little faster pace and a few small details cleaned up, it would have much better.

7/10

Concur Kase! I liked it as well. Good intensity. Good cast. Most of the Saudi scenes were shot 4 miles north of my home at Williams Gateway in Mesa AZ. So us locals had been looking forward to this and weren't disappointed. A friend "did" all of the vehicles for the show wrt body work and paint. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

P.S. Kase, you should go into the movie-review business. Nice job1 http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
