"Some of you might like this and some might not. There is getting to be too much political commenting and it is detracting from what this web site is about. We all have different political views and that is every Americans right but this web site is about cars and a nice place to get away from the world of politics. Starting now, any political posts will be deleted. Please understand that even though what you post might be approved by others in your thread, there are many other readers that are distancing themselves from the threads and site because of the political banter. One goal of this site is to bring us lovers of Supercars together, not get us into political arguments."
Tom, just for clarification, does this ban on political postings include posts about government health care and illegal aliens--two highly political subjects? If so then those threads need to be deleted as well.
I am all for going back to talking about cars.

http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif I really admire those who were long winded and took the time to share and explain thier opinions and beliefs. I certainly would not have been able to hear calm, clear conversation with any of my family, friends or business associates regarding opposing political views.
Do jokes about politicians count as political posts? ...just kidding.

What about posts explaining that we are now deleting political posts? Shouldn't this entire post be deleted due to its inclusion of the "forbidden fruit" of the "P-word?" How's that for a Catch 22? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

The United States of America is the greatest on going experiment in Democracy in the history of modern man. While issues like abortion, separation of church and state, the unjustness of unbridled capitalism, and the golden chains of generational welfare, divide us, we are all Americans. It would be my hope, that we, as a nation, could find common ground, through tolerance, and impartial rational. That decency, dignity, self respect, and respect for others, be the bond that holds us together.
Shut off Rush. Shut off air America. Find your own way.
We've been in tough spots before, and have persevered. We will again. Together. God bless our troops in harms way, and help us, find our way.

I applaud the decision. There are enough negative forces trying to ruin our hobby. This site is supposed to bring us together to dicuss common interests. Why let political disagreements tear us apart.
Good lord...seperation of church and state - not in the constitution...unbridled capitalism??? That's like saying unbridled freedom and liberty.<--this is a scary thought. And generational welfare? Shut off freedom of speech?? Yes, let's not discuss politiks. Close this one. Close 'em all.

These discussions were posted in the Lounge area and these discussions would make people think about what's going on in the World today and Yes it does get heated every now and then and we are all Adults here and "Should" be able to sort it out ....But....The real world isn't like watching "The Brady Bunch" on TV every day........So...it's Tom's deal so I'll respect his decision

If you let politics tear us apart, you're missing the jist.
About a year ago, I believe Charlie wanted to stop the political
posts in the lounge section and several members ( me included )
requested that he not do so. It is the "lounge" after all and
not for muscle car related topics. I prefer this site over
all other car forums because of the diverse backgrounds and
opinions expressed here. That's what makes it a winner in
my book. The lounge section is one of my favorite haunts.
Personally, I'm sorry to see the political discussions stop.
If you can't take the heat, don't go in the kitchen. Or more
appropriately, don't chime in. It's OK ! We'll survive.
But, if members are getting up in arms, then so be it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Poor conduct on the board should be delt with on a case by case basis. Banning an entire topic as important as "politics" is short sighted and I think it should be revisited.
These people that we elect (good or bad) make legislation that impact our hobby. Political views need to be discussed openly. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif
IMO..If someone gets out of line - fix the individual's conduct and enforce the existing board rules of conduct. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I agree that this site is the best one on the 'net, bar none. But, I respect Tom Clary's wish to tone-down the rhetoric regarding some of the recent heated, yet in my opinion, respectful discussions. I love a good go-around with my friend kwhizz but I realize that some of what's said can make some people squeamish or just turned-off. Okay, that's cool. It's not my site, it's Tom's and if he wants us to refrain from the political stuff then I have to respect that. Maybe it's a good time to remember the old rule that you should never discuss religion or politics in polite company.
It's too bad though. The '08 election is coming up and it's going to be really hard not to throw some grenades back and forth with Ken (or Howie) here on the forum! It just ain't the same on e-mail.

Waited in line for hours to race, first round I cut cut .005 light to bad it was a-.005 Oh well thats racing !! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

This morning, Hillary Clinton told the Boston Globe, "I have a million ideas. The country can't afford them all."
It was a rare moment of truth. It seems like Hillary Clinton is coming out with new plans to expand government and spend your taxes almost every single day now. In fact, she's come up with so many big-government schemes over the last two weeks alone that it's becoming hard to keep track of them all. That's why the RNC is launching the Hillary Clinton Spend-O-Meter: an easy way to keep up with just how much new government spending Hillary has proposed on the campaign trail.
Every time Hillary proposes a new program, the Spend-o-meter will go up. It's already taking into account: $440 billion for her plan to have the government take over your health care; $100 billion for her taxpayer-funded retirement scheme; $6 billion for government-funded transportation; and much more. In fact, today, on the Spend-o-meter's very first day, it is already reading $724 billion. And it's still a year before Election Day. Can she hit $1 trillion before Thanksgiving? Will she make it to the $2 trillion mark before the party conventions next summer? Visit Clintonspendometer.com to see how much of your hard-earned money Hillary Clinton is promising to spend, as she says, "on behalf of the common good."
