There's nothing like being awakened in the middle of the night by the area's tornado warning siren. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

It's 77 degrees 30 miles outside of Chicago right now with a Southwest wind that's pretty dominating. There's a massive warm front coming straight up from the Gulf is why, which is uncommon for that to happen.Usually our weather comes directly at us from the West to the East.
We have a Tornado watch possibility later this evening.
They are saying that the Wisco./Il. border could get the brunt of it though.

Hell..speaking of that. I am on here listening to the ball game on the t.v. and the feed was cut out to the game, the sirens are going off as I type this. And it looks like we are in for a stormy night...good, we need the rain...hopefully nothing more.

We had a low pressure system move through today with 50-knot gusts. Thousands of autumn leaves flying everywhere. Then I see the backyard table's umbrella go flying past the upstairs window. Oops--I forgot to close it this morning and store it before the winds hit. Luckily it wasn't damaged but I had to go into the neighbor's yard to retrieve it.

I saw that umbrella thing happen at a car show, big gust took it from the folding table, sent it up about 25'-30' feet, and luckily just missed coming down nose-first on the hood of a Vette. Course, it was a Vette group (that took up 4 parking spaces), that set up the table with the big umbrella in the first place. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
The sirens in Columbus didn't go off last night, but when they do, they go off in the whole of Franklin county, so nobody really freaks when they do. Besides, when the local TV weatherman says hysterically that HE is heading for the shelter, then I might consider it, depending on what their super-duper, only on this channel, double double Titan doppler weather radar shows. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
