I tried to blow it up as much as I could and thats one problem if it was real I would sure do a large photo or at least a more clear photo on a high dollar item as this. The 1111 dosent look to line up to me and the date looks out of line, but as I said the picture s$!@ks. Who knows with a better look it might be ok.

Crappy pictures to judge. I will say that the housing is missing that shiny finish that untouched one's have and the lines that are on the housing are not the same as my original 480 housing.

Those are crap pictures. If I had a real part I would be taking some real good photos to showcase it a bit. Maybe you could ask for a better close up of the #'s ??

I will try and get that info for you this weekend. Here's a decent picture of a real 480 on Ebay right now. Notice the shine on the housing? Also look at the machine marks on the housing and the gang stamp marking in front of the first number "1":

That one looks fake to me personally: 1 feedback, and just the bottom half is machined (fairly fresh). I don't trust any distributor that looks that nice after its been sitting since the "70's" on a shelf thats my .02

I will post some pics of my "shelf" 480 and 2019 (no Marlin, you can't have it http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif). They have the exact same housing finish.

Hylton, that ebay 480 looks like it may have been a 481 at one time. Tough to say for sure with the bad pic. *Edit: the vertical line in the middle of the 0 isnt where the one would be in the 481
Here's a 480:
