my buddy needs a frame for his 72 chevelle will a 70 monte carlo frame work???

I don't believe so. If you open the hood on a Monte Carlo, you'll see the engine sits much farther back. The fan shroud almost looks like a playground tunnel.

Hollander manual shows a 70 Monte frame will not work.

It shows these will -
'68-'72 Buick Special conv
'69 Buick Special 2 dr exc GS400 2dr ht
'71-'72 Buick Special 2 dr sdn & ht - exc 455"
'68-'70 Chevelle 2 dr exc El camino
'71-'72 Chevelle 2 dr ht & conv
'68-'70 Olds F-85 conv
'69 Olds F-85 2 dr
'71-'72 Olds F-85 2 dr
'68 Tempest conv
'69 Tempest 2 dr
'70-71 Tempest 2dr sdn & ht exc 455
'71 Tempest conv exc 455
'72 Tempest 2 dr exc 455

Don't have a book to check any more but I seem to remember a 4 inch difference in length and that a 4door chevelle and Monte may be the same but not two door.That is only off the top of my old head which is not like is used to be.

Any frame from a 68 to 72 A body will work. Chevelle, LeMans, Olds, etc.
I've got a spare frame if he needs one. Send me a pm

Unless your aiming for show points, keep your eyes peeled for the stronger 442/rag boxed frames..
And isn't it the extended length in the frame horns what makes the Gran Prix/Monte' ones wrong...remember those deep rad shrouds?.

Pete - its that as well as a stretched section from the firewall to the engine crossmember. Montes have a spacer between the firewall and wheelhouse, and the motor mount brackets are set back further on the crossmember compared to a Chevelle.
