Hi, Guy’s I’m new to this forum so please have a little tolerance, while I get used to the way things are done here. I have had in my possession for 18 years or so a 1971 Chevelle SS Convertible. This has been in storage along with my 1967 Chevelle for many years while I collected not only the funds and the NOS parts, but also the knowledge on how to do a proper frame off restoration. Anyway I believe that this car was delivered new directly from the assembly plant to Nickey Chevrolet for modification. The car was ordered at a different dealership. The frame off was done recently and has only surfaced in the last two years or so. Please stop by if you are going to the fall 2007 Chevy Vettefest and would like to see the car, talk about Nickey or Chevelles in general. The car is Ascot Blue with black top, stripes and a bucket seat interior; it usually sticks out because of the color combination on a Chevelle. Additionally it’s an L48 car has Cowl Induction and an M20 transmission.

Welcome.
Was the ZL-2 added on after taking delivery?
Who was the original ordering dealer and can you expound on that?

Thank You for the welcome,
the ZL-2 was added at Nickey along with an LT1 induction system to accommodate the hook up of the Cowl Induction and provide addition performance to the L48. This was done before delivery of the vehicle to the original owner. The dealer who sold the car was Central Chevrolet in Atlanta Georgia; unfortunately like Nickey they have been out of business a number of years. From what I was told the original owner of the Chevelle was either a friend or business associate of the owner(s) of Central Chevrolet and maybe even someone who worked at Nickey. Anyway it seems he had some kind of connection to the Chevrolet dealer network and he special ordered the car. It is really one of a kind, not one the all out race cars that Nickey is noted for, or one of the grocery getters that filled most of their lot, but something in between. Anyway if you are at the Chevy Vettefest in less than two weeks stop by and say high, if you go you will definitely want to stop by the Nickey Chicago booth and see Stefano Bimbi he really knows Nickey inside and out.
Thanks again,
Gary

In addition, I would like to have it noted that at this time, to avoid confusion
the car will be displayed as a Nickey tribute car until the Nickey Chicago
team has a proper chance to view my Chevelle and all the paper work.
Inclusion into the Nickey registry is still pending.

Mr. Lentz will also be displaying a cool Nickey scale model dealer diorama.

Although I have not seen this car in person, it looks real nice in the pictures he sent us.

The car looks awesome! I believe that Gary did a lot of the restoration himself. Certainly a very unique vehicle.

Special ordering a car at one dealership and having it shipped from the factory to another dealership for delivery was/is known as a courtesy delivery.

Now I remember seeing this Chevelle @ VF.
Once Bob mentioned diorama, that rang the bell.
The Chevelle and dioramas were all done very nicely.

Thank You, the color is Ascot Blue with Black SS striping, black top and interior. With the up coming Vettefest in November of 2008, it's time to start doing corrections and improvements to my Chevelle, mostly per the judging sheet from last year. Speaking of last years show it was great to see and talk to everybody that stopped by. It was especially nice to have Valerie Harrell (as most of you know is Dick Harrell's daughter) stop by and take a look, she loved the color as well. Also Bob Ashton was kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule to come look at my car and the display. I'm sure this year will be just as much fun for all involved in the Vettefest. I have photos from of these people stopping by, but they are to large for me to post. Thanks, Gary
