If this guy has "more rare big block stuff than any one I have ever heard about", why did he not realize his old truck had a ZL1 motor in it until he was in the process of pulling it out? He can't tell a ZL1 from an old truck motor if it has a coat of krylon on it? Stranger things have happened. I've found 2 ZL1 bare blocks and 2 near complete ZL1 motors here in Ga. 1 was in a purple Chevelle with a set of Grumpy's heads that were off his '70 Camaro. The heads were reunited with the Camaro when sixtiesmuscle bought it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
Odder still was when X11 71 71 found the original engine to my BBrown COPO somewhere in the Northeast. The car itself had only been in W Va, Fla and NM.

I have a 69 Chevelle COPO (MP) motor that everyone said was impossible, cause they did not make COPO chevelle's at the plant where this engine was vinn'd from (Kansas). Now they have found some COPO's from that plant. The engine and stamp have been verified as authentic.
Again, you never know........

[/ QUOTE ]
Although it is hard to believe that he did not know since the truck was his...unless he bought it that way....
I bought the original ZL-1 motor for my car(years prior to buying the car) at Carlisle swap meet on a Sunday afternoon after 3/4 of the vendors had gone home. I was actually p. o.'ed that I drove all the way there not realizing that everyone left Carlisle early.Anyway, the motor was completely painted orange so noone all weekend even paid it any attention. If it wasn't for my then 15 year old little brother mentioning that we just passed by a ZL-1 motor,I wouldn't have even noticed it. Once the owner fired it up on the little engine stand with the zoomy headers, every vendor left at the meet wanted to buy it...Thank God I already had bought it(assuming it ran).
....Maybe even a stranger thing is that I did not realize it was an "original with vin" ZL-1 motor for atleast 2 years after I owned it...Many professional dealers and persons way more expert than myself did not notice all weekend that it was a ZL-1 motor ...only because it was painted orange.
i believe ZL-1 # 35 or 36 was "found" just a few years ago with Z-28 emblems...the title apparently had a digit wrong on the vin, so the car was 'lost' in DMV for years so to say...and bought for a song..
What would you guys be saying if somone posted on here about some guy with truck containers welded shut full of big blocks, Copos and Yenkos??
So never say never...my point is that atleast the guy deserves a chance to prove his story before he gets totally trashed...time will tell... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I don't know about the 10 bolt/12 bolt, m21/m22 issues Chuck, but I went to the Tn junkyard with Joey. The owner, probably in his 30's didn't have many teeth, but he did have a bunch of Camaro's and would not sell any of them.

I don't think anything floats up out of that river.... It keeps it until you go get it. I wouldn't doubt something as strange as that engine being in an old truck though. I know where some plain jane F150's are with 429 CJ engines in them. I have seen warehouses full of BBC engines and 4 speeds stacked like cordwood in Georgia. A guy in Linden, TN crushed cars for weeks after the epa got on his nerves. Big blocks were scattered all over the Mountain where he lived. I saw a building in Georgia with 348's and 409's laying on top of each other. Old Man Holt in Fayetteville, TN won't tell me but I have heard from many people that he has a barn full of Hemi engines. He won't let you on his land if you are a "long hair". I have friends that have asked me to find parts on his place for him. He takes you out in his old jeep (with a chainsaw) and shows you what you are looking for. Rows of 57's, corvairs, Chryslers, Impalas and buildings with who knows what. The Chainsaw is to cut the trees out so you can get to the cars.... People are strange. There is a guy in Ft. Payne that spends his days at the entrance of his land to make sure you don't try to steal his stuff. Another 10 acres or so of cars.... Neat cars that he could retire on. Of course they are not for sale...

He probably didn't mean anything by it. In some areas of the South Colored or black is still used. I don't know how old Joey is but an 80 yr old may still use a term that a 20 yr old wouldn't. It changes alot, I'm not white, I am caucasion.. What does the "C" in NAACP stand for anyway...... But like someone said, it really didn't contribute to the story much. Mr Holt not letting Schonye on his land would be something to see though... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

As unlikely as it may seem, weird stuff happen.
Locally way up here in Canada, a guy passed away in Vancouver. He owned a chunk of land in a wooded area surrounded by the city, and lo and behold this guy had a couple of hemi cars, a 440 six pack car, crated hemi engines, 4 I think, chrysler shipping crates full of performance parts, including two full crates of 340 hi-po exhaust manifolds. I saw the pictures and met the lucky *&$%$^ that bought the whole contents for a little over 60 g's. Everybody gets tired of the "old car turns out to be a corvette for 500 bucks deal", but this stuff ocasionally happens for real.

Its been an eyesore for many years as this guy will not clean it up, with that said the State has now stepped in and taken over, last i heard anything that comes out of there cannot be sold, its ashame but its all going to the crusher.

Turns out the arc of the covenant I took out of Atlantis the other day ended up being a set of 262 Monza heads, and they were sold already.
Sorry guys.

So he gives a total stranger a "tour", yet refuses after you helped him for four hours in his yard???
[/ QUOTE ]
The origional tour was given because he needed someone to weld on his 1957 and he called me. I went over saturday uninvited and he was outside working so I helped him in hopes of getting to go backto the shop. I took my cell phone with a camera in it because I knew he would not knowingly let me take pics.He will need more help on his car one day or maby I should call the scrap yard monday and tell them where a lot of there scrap went and we can all watch as it gets destroyed maby that would satisfy you folks, but really I don't care .

Nice to know that you would take pics without asking. Better yet, take pics when knowing someone wouldn't want you to.

Guys, I think i found the chariot used by Spartacus. I stopped at a tag sale locally after i noticed the glitter of all the solid gold artifacts the guy had from King Tuts tomb. I passed on the solid gold trojan horse used in the Trojan war in 1200BC because it had some damage when rocks were hurled at it 3200 years ago and figured no one would want it unless it was in perfect condition. I should have taken it for the 400.00 asking price though. Just didnt have a truck big enough to lift 6 tons of solid gold. Oh well, Ill get my lucky break some day.

I saw that chariot, it was a clone.
A title search found out it was actually a stolen recovery that was used by a guy named Judas Ben Hur, a man who set many street race records in his famous four horsepower wooden cart.
Many say he was a dirty racer and was actually called The Intimidator by his mostly mortally wounded competitors. He apparently plated the stolen golden cart with aluminum to avoid suspicion. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

...a young colored man....jp
[/ QUOTE ]What color is he? The correct term in the 21st century would either be african-american or simply a black man. "Colored" is a bit dated, and many take offense to it.
