My mechanics have just pulled down my O Drive Unit and the transmission guy was not happy. Car had been driving okay but had a noise from the box (only recently installed) so was not sure why. Been on shelf for close to a decade..and anyones guess to its life story
The box had a slow leak so no surprise as it must have overheated before I got it. The bearings are not a problem, but the two planetary units for want of a better description have seen better days.
Have to ask, does anyone know anyone who may make up parts for these ????
Does anyone have the blueprints that parts can be made up off ?????
Would trade first born child,
I recall a post not too long ago about a NY company that serviced these units.

Hi,
I'm the guy that started the last post, no we couldn't find the shop in NY, no longer in business, I have a unit that has the same sitution, the three planetary gears are shot and the bearings they ride on are shot also. If you do locate someone who can rebuild these please share info with me. I am meeting with a local machine shop to have him look at my unit. I was also told these units arevery popular with the "rockcrawler" crowds, although I have yet to locate a source for service parts for these units. I will share whatever I find out, please do the same.
Have you tried contacting crash (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showprofile.php?Cat=0&User=367&page=12&what=showme mbers)?

Probably worth checking in w/ the motorhome service groups for parts too...also keep your eyes peeled for dead/dying motorhomes equipped w/ the Hone-O units..
Here's a San-Fran craiglist example from Sept..

For a g-note it sounds like it's worth pursuing for the Hone-O alone plus a chance to get dough back on the Onan generator, 'rubbercrank' 440 and other goodies...and some aluminum to cash in at the end of the day too?.
