I know somebody that has a 69 L78 Chevelle for sale. I think he has it listed on the Chevelle site. I think it's numbers matching but no paperwork. It's either red or orange.

I know this car as it is local. Although I haven't crawled around under it, the car sure looks nice. The engine is very strong. The power windows are something that you don't see on a Chevelle very often up here. The owner is meticulous. With the GM of Canada documentation you can't go too far wrong. No, I don't have any vested interest in the car. Peter may have even seen this car at Haugen's cruise night.

A resto project would be fine with me just to keep my busy also. Maybe even a 69 camaro would be alright.

The price of the car in my opinion is suspect because
a clone in that shape will sell for that amount.
try and find a real L78 around for sale. If it has GM
paper work then its real.If I did not have a l78 at home I would nap it up at that price asap. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Like I said, I have never crawled over or under the car. It does have the GM paperwork, The owner brought it back from Quebec a few years ago and has thoroughly enjoyed the car. With our car, not having the original engine will affect the value. Nothing in our area seems to be selling very quickly. Small towns are losing manufacturing jobs in substantial numbers. As a result, everyone starts running a little scared and are tightening their purse strings. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

That's Jim Idziors' 1970 Gold/Black Chevelle.
It won best MODIFIED at the NCOA Showdown here in 1997.
Notice the firewall & underhood are painted body color, among other incorrect factory details..
A real nice guy,who told me then he made it into an L-78,as it did NOT originally come from the factory as an L-78.Notice the M-22 trans, which was NOT possible on the L-78 1970 Chevelle either.
It is a nice Chevelle, and priced fairly I believe for what it is,but it's NOT one of the 2144 1970 L-78 Chevelles' originally produced,or a concours correct restoration for those interested in finding one.
Champagne Gold is one of my favorites.. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

Rick,
beat me to it.
I was just going to say that ebay ad is not an L-78.
it was built after my car that was built third week of Dec.

Thanks to canadian ssl78 & Northernforce for letting me get the details of the Toronto classifed L-78 close up.

For those curious,seller said it's got a 1970 L-78 Nova block(as the original blew up),& a Borg-Warner T-10 trans,but does retain the original 3:55 posi rearend.
It's a idiot light gauge cluster, which George Z. confirms, but the car has a console in it now, which George isn't showing as original equipment,(RPO D-55),which was very possible & quite unique for a Bucket seat 4 spd.
Noting other somewhat unique options for these Chevelles:
Power windows-Washer jar level indicator-Rear defogg-R-79 Side post battery-Auxillary lighting.

-----This L78 would be a good runner with the wide-ratio and 3:55 gears along with the 375hp. Nice combo for a bit of extra pep over an M21.......Bill S

Have you ridden in an L78 car that can run 11.70s and is driven on the street regularly. Our L78 might run mid to low 13s on a good day. The owner just put together a '68 Camaro that is stock looking, streetable, and ran 10.60s first time out. The guy is pretty meticulous. It looks like the Chevelle has a buyer as I write this. He's getting a good car.

Sean,
I know of a project car which I sold about 10 years ago.

The car had no docs and was a Chicago area race car.

It was Green Green with Buckets. Still has the original 3.55 posi rear, disc brake stuff and original single fuel line.

It had NOS fenders and New rear 1/4s were installed when I got it, from the prior owner. It was a solid car. Now Painted Black.

The guy has had it sitting in storage since I sold it to him. The only thing he did was blast and powder coat the frame.

It needs an engine and trans. It is bolted on to a rotisserie.

The owner wants $7,500.00 for the car and all the parts he has, not the rotisserie. I have no pics at this time.

I have a 1970 L78 convertible 4 spd being restored. Original build sheet, but born with engine is long gone. However, I do have an incredibly rare 70 L78 block. No need to tell you how rare this car is. I will price it reasonable in its current partially restored state if interested.
