Looking at replacing a quarter on an early 2nd gen F-body with a nice one from another car. I know that there are dates codes on the fenders, hood, doors, etc, but what about the body sheet metal (e.g. quarters, tailpanel, etc)? Are there dates codes or plant codes on these pieces? If so, where and how do you are they coded? I have seen numbers stamped on many pieces but they look more like part numbers.

From what I remember John Z posting over at CGR, I think the sheetmetal was stamped with the plant code and the week it was made. I do not think they were specific date's ??

I believe that is correct. Letter is the stamping plant, number is the week of the year.

Hi Dave. My driver door has H8 and the passenger door has H7 close to the bottom. Is this the stamp? The driver door has what looks to be N91 near the top. The passenger does not have the second stamp.
