I know it seems like it may be early, and I know I am always on here with a "shameless plug" for Chevy Vettefest, but you guys know I am committed to this!

Anyway, the Spring '08 show will return to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont April 5-6, 2008 and in keeping with our theme of having cool sYc based Showcase Displays, we have made arrangements with Rick Nelson of the LS6 Registry to put together an LS6 Showcase.

This special gathering will have some very notable cars and is open to not only Chevelles, but also El Caminos and Corvettes.

As always, candidates MUST be REAL documented examples, absolutely no clones or tribute vehicles! If you have an LS6 equipped Chevy and would like to be a part of this, please contact Rick Nelson at [email protected] or [email protected]

I will start the list with our first registered LS6, owned by a guy who "Gets It!" http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

1. Dennis Cumby, 1970 Original Owner LS6 Chevelle, Black

Rick is currently looking at several other candidates which we will list when confirmed and I know he has several already lined up. I will let Rick add to this list when he is ready!

Thanks/BA

An LS6 area would be real cool, would love to see a few El Camino's in the mix as well.

This will be a very cool showcase.

Rick, I know of one Cortez Silver LS6 that will be coming down...from your neck of the woods.

Oh he will be there. What is a VetteFest party without Chad. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I have 10 cars including at least two convertibles so far that have given me about a 90% green light and have many more yet to contact. I would really like to get a sampling of many of the rarer colors such as Daytona Yellow, Hugger Orange, Mist Green, Gold, etc. I am also having a hard time locating a quality El Camino. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

We also plan on having a finished rolling chassis (possibly Don Stowers) and a completely restored engine as well as a couple of hopeful race cars and literature on display. With any luck we can make this into a realy nice display with almost total representation. Thanks in advance for anyones help locating quality cars that are interested in displaying.

Hey John (SSL78), how about we get a hold of Glen....see if he`d bring his Bragance (Sold) Fathom Blue LS6. It`s a beautiful car....one that should be part of this showcase.

I am amazed at the responses so far as my goal was 20 cars and I am at 15 in just a week that have responded with their interest in being part of the show. Not included in that 15 are a few surprises as well as some pretty rare cars and even a couple of one offs that are trying to make arrangements. If everyone that Bob and I have talked to come, we are already at our target goal. Thanks to all who have sent me e-mails and showed their interest. I only hope Bob has room for all of us if we surpass 20 in the next 3 months. This may turn out to be a really exciting showcase.

Here is an updated list of cars so far. Most of these are for sure with a couple of very high potentials. I have some very exciting and rare cars waiting in the wings for the owners decision and will post them as they notify and confirm their cars.

I added Mark Mitchell's (Late BrakeU2) Pilot LS-6 tonight as Mark called and confirmed his entry into the show and has some very interesting signage, photos and documents to display with the car. As many of you may or may not know, this is the very first documented LS-6 built and has a couple hand marked notations on the build sheet as well as the cylinder head. This car will be undergoing a complete frame off following the show. Thanks for your support.

Here is the list so far.
1. Dennis Cumby's original owner Black Fred Gibb LS6 Chevelle
2. Chad Blomberg's Cortez Silver coupe
3. Nick B's Misty Turquiose convertible
4. Chris White with Blue convert
5. Dennis L.'s Shadow Grey coupe
6. Bob L.'s Shadow Grey coupe (possible)
7. Mark Bulaw's Red coupe
8. Jason Palka's Fathom Green coupe
9. Don Stowers' White coupe (possible) or at least the rolling chassis
10. Al Wagner's LS-6 coupe and Roadster Corvettes (possible)
11. Possibly 1 or 2 well known race cars.
12. James Lerum Cortez Silver/black top coupe
13. Kevin Beirman with his Truppi-Kling display material
14. Dina W. Forest Green coupe
15. Mark M. The Pilot LS-6

I contacted the owner of the second known built LS6 (Leeds 12-11)that was a zone demonstrator. I'm trying to get him excited enough to maybe get his done and bring it, even though I think he needs to sell it to me. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Can-I-Have-It.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drool.gif

I'll keep after him for a little while to see if he might try to make a run at it.

Not even close but I am a good pretender. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif My hands are a little full right now with other issues and trying to getting this to come off without a hitch will be a test given the time that it takes, but so far so good. If I can just get some of the "special surprise" cars committed, it will really turn into one hell of a display.
