Does Anyone have any experience with Dan McCluskey Chevrolet, in Cincinnati, Ohio. While they are a large volume dealer today, it seems that they were a small operation back in 1969.

I was told that while they have expaned over the years, the new car showroom is still at the same address of the Dealership back in 1969?

I was also told that it was called King Chevrolet prior to being called Dan McCluskey Chevrolet.

Any help and info will be appreciated.

I will try to find out for you. I don't know how true this is but I have heard some COPO's where sold out of the dealership. But if that is true, I'm sure you already know that. I have inquired with a friend in the past about Cincinnati's "Automobile Row" which this happens to be near, but not on the same road, but he knew a wealth of info about those dealerships (his father was a used car salesman from the 50's-until his death in 2004) and hopefully he can shed some light on McCluskey. Are you looking for any info, or info when it was King?

Dennis,
I have some info that my COPO Camaro may have been sold out of that location. I did communicate with the current owner, Keith McCluskey and he has been an employee there longer than anyone (since 1980). No info or docs.

Dealer may have been King in 1969?

The original owner of my COPO was from Lebanon Ohio, which is not far from the dealership.

The COPO Camaro is originally Silver, Black Vinyl top car, with Style Trim, Had AM Radio, Chambered Exhaust, Rally Wheels and dealer added Spoilers.

The original owner sold the car in 1971. He also had an Emerald Green 1955 Chevy Drag Car at the time.

Any help would be appreciated.

I tried to PM you, but it was all filled up, so I will put it on the board.
I am going to try to get in contact with a guy I once worked with. He had a COPO...I did not see documents, but I did see a bunch of photographs, circa early 70's...sometime after he came back from Vietnam he bought it. It was a silver car, and it did have a black vinyl top. He was/is from the northern Cincinnati area, so it is close to Lebanon. I will try to contact this guy for you...he was going through some health problems and I have not spoken to him in 15 months. But he was big time into the street scene back then (good friends at the time with Dave Lewis...D/MP Granny Goose Camaro fame) and just sort of got out of it in the late 70's and for years in the past I told him to come to this site, register and show off his old car...but like I said, he was just not really into this thing anymore, and the only reason we talked about it, was that he saw a screen saver of a Nickey Camaro on my computer at work.
I would like to know this info myself, so I will do what I can. I'll make some calls tomorrow (12-18).

I just wanted to keep you informed....no info yet. I have lost his home phone number and waiting to hear back from an e-mail. I have contacted someone else who knows this guy...he has been on vacation all week and it looks like next week as well...I will keep on trying.

Sorry that it took so long to get back to you. I tried to PM ya' but your message box was full. I should be meeting Bill this friday, but he already told me his car was from Joseph Chevrolet on Colerain and not McCluskey/King Chevrolet, I will try to find out all I can about the car, he told me he sold it to someone in Carthage just North of Cincy and ironically very close to McCluskey, that guy in turn sold the car to someone in Kentucky and he lost track/did not really care anymore.

Sweet! That car was built 350 cars ahead of mine, and the body # is about 1800 numbers before mine. There is a good chance they were built on the same day. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif
