A friend of mine is interested in this car: 70 RS Z w/Air (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-1-2-CHEVROLET-CAMARO-RS-POSSIBLY-A-RARE-RS-Z28_W0QQitemZ320191992291QQihZ011QQcategoryZ6161QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) My opinion of the car is yes it could possibly be a real 70 Z w/factory air but unless you have some bullet proof documentation to prove that, it will always be questioned. What do you guys think? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Oh, and also if it was a factory job, would it have some sort of unique prefix for the engine build code?

I don't know about 70 Z28's but shouldn't it have a 12 bolt? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif

Looks like a lot of work...

As far as a Z28 with AC...I have no clue...though I thought they never came with it...the whole solid lifter-high revving engine reason... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif

It is missing everything a real Z28 should have except emblems, and they are in the wrong locations.

Yeah, just got a good look at the pics and you're right, not much correct there....wrong tach, etc. Looks like possibly a trim tag mistake, not about the AC but the Z28.

I thought 73 was the first year for A/C in a Z.?

Correct. 73 was first year for air. 70 was first year for auto, last year for 12 bolt.

That car has been listed several times.

Not a real Z IMHO,

Rich

The car has been discused, and torn apart, here.

to summarize; Faked tag, and lacking all the Z stuff (8K tach, floor mount gas pedal, rear "bummper-etes", 12 bolt) and it shouldn't have A/C.

Not a real Z...should have the 8000 rpm tach with a 6500 redline! Sellers like this really piss me off! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

Someone did a terrible job faking that tag, there should be a law against crap like that........

The tag almost looks like somebody laid bondo on it and shaped the "Z28 . 10". Lots of scratches around it. What's with the "." ??
