------Dont know about any history but, per our conversations on here, I think the rubber floor-mat should be dyed blue. Am I right, guys????........Bill S

Not really, but sorta... If it had blue standard interior the mat would have indeed been blue, not black...but in this case the rubber mat should be replaced with blue carpeting, as this car has deluxe interior and shouldn't even have a rubber mat.

-----Thanks for the clarafication, Joe. I sort of half-assed thought about that while typing. It makes perfect sense.......Bill S

That car has been on and off on ebay. If the trim code is 736, that would mean that it had a light blue deluxe interior with bench. Which would mean it had carpet. In 1969, 737 was deluxe bucket seat. Does anyone know if 1970 had a 737 trim code for buckets? Kind of scratching my head at that. Why would GM have light blue buckets in 69 but not list a 737 trim code for buckets in 70? Did they only make a light blue deluxe bench in 70? That's weird.

According to my book, I only see a medium blue colored interior with corresponding numbers of 735 for standard interior & 736 for the custom interior. Both are listed as cloth seats with no bucket seat listing. I don't see a 737 trim code for buckets in 70...

Looks like a nice car. Like the wheel/tire changes. The steering wheel center is incorrect as well as the master cylinder and proportioning valve. They are for 1969 models, unless the car was a very early production 1970 and they may have put these parts on at the factory, but I doubt it....

Looks like some one used a blue 69 interior. Only three interior colors for SS cars in 70. Black, tan and gold. Earl

'70 - what a cheater year! There was some cool gut colors in '69, and then they came back a few years later. However, I thought you could get more than 3 interior colors on SS models with bench seats, (?).

This car should also have a blue mat http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Mr. Chevy

Earl, I believe that you are referring to the colors available for the strato-bucket seats in 1970 which are 733-black, 742 gold, and 746 sandalwood. These were all vinyl seats as well.

Marlin, You could get a blue bench seat listed as cloth: 735-1970 Nova sedan and coupe with standard interior and 736- 1970 Nova sedan and coupe with custom interior (RPO ZJ1).

This info was pulled directly out of my 1970 salesman's sales album...

Tom, you are correct.. 5 interior colors listed for 1970.

You are also correct on the body side molding and rocker trim issue for the SS models. The body side molding w/black vinyl insert was only availbale with the exterior decor package (RPO ZJ5). However, the lower body side molding, black lower body accent band and body sill/rear fender moldings were all part of the custom exterior package (RPO ZJ2)

Then if you want to get even more crazy, the black lower body accent band & the black body accent band below the body sill and rear fender moldings did not come if the car had an exterior color of fathom blue, black cherry or forrest green.

5 colors sounds about right, I was surprised that they dropped the red interior for '70 - would look great with a black or silver body!

I have to show you some pictures of my 69 with standard interior. It does have a blue column from the factory which would only mean that it had a dark blue steering wheel. The dash and pad are dark blue along with the side of the dash cluster bezel. It hasn't been repainted that I know of.

I've seen plenty of blue, green and tan steering wheels and dash pads.... Just not sure why certain colors were available in some years but dropped in other years - when exterior colors were constant. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Yea, the Gobi w/ Gold gut is a little hard on the eyes, but a Gobi w/ Sandalwood gut is very nice!

A friend of mine has a '70 Gobi/Gold roof/Sandal gut SS (Nova) waiting in line after he finishes his Black/Black '70 Chevelle. Originally a 350/4 speed car, he's following Kwhizz's lead and most likely doing it as an L89.

Cool car with all the good stuff, including that hard-to-find rear sway bar.

Very cool car, love the color combo.. Interesting that it has black colored steel wheels and not body color. I know some did come this way....

And the question is, YES WHY DID YOU SELL IT?? ITS AWESOME!!

I remember back in about 1997 or so I visited the National Nostalgic Nova Hdqts. in York, PA. I will never forget while talking to Wayne Bushey he showed me a very low mileage, unrestored, all original 1970 Nova six cylinder car that was orange. Car was very cool and he stated that when he took that car to the Nova Nationals it received more attention from spectators than some of the original big block SS cars that were there just because it was different and rare to see... Somebody on the site here might know of or currently own this car... I know at the time he offered it to me for sale..

Yeah I was dumb the car had only 45xxx miles, all the paper work, even though it was only a 307 car but man it was super clean. Now a guy named Don has it and is making a yenko clone out of it. And that was they way the rims came.

That would be unique - glad it's consistent with other cars and that it has a gold pad. Is the dash bezel, column and wheel also gold?

Nova Jed

I know this is odd, but my dash bezel is dark blue on the left hand side. It's just blue up to the dash pad. That's it. I'd have to get a picture of it to show you.

I did post some pictures of my dash Bezel, but it's under Nova interior colors. I couldn't remember where I posted this last.
