I came across a NOS Delco 309-R cap still in the pull string box while going through some of my parts and it is real dark red not black.
I was going to eBay it along with some other parts but I am not sure of the application. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like Corvette.
Is it leaning more towards brown & does it have copper terminals too?

Yes it has copper terminals, Sam I have no idea what it is worth and you have to list a price. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I have sold 6-8 of these NOS in the past year on e-bay. It makes a huge difference if it is embossed on the top or not and what the embossment says, and if it is brown or red.Yes there was a red GM one
The range on mine was about $66.00 -$400.00 . The red one I had I could not sell and trashed it.

Red ones are D327R, used with Olds and Pontiac CD ignition and some Chevy taxi's. Original D327R have aluminum terminals. The ones coming from Canada have brass terminals. They may still be making them "up north".

Thanks John. The red one I had could have very easily been put in the wrong GM box which is why I thought it was a 309. It also had the copper terminals. All I remember for sure is there was no interest in it.
take care Joe

Sorry but I don't keep the pics after I sell an item or trash it and I was born in West Virginia so don't have the EH issue, in fact the only time I hear it here is when my brother comes home from Ontario.Seems to be more obvious up there.
All I have is brown ones right now

And here's a nice picture of the inside of a brown D309 cap. In the center of the Delco Remy you can see the tiny Made in USA. At this age I usually need glasses and a magnifying glass to read them. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

What window? It has a piece of plastic glued in instead of the metal window. I've only seen a few others like this one.

Thanks for the pics as you know a pic is worth a thousand EHs up here.
