OK Guys, since I’m on here playing I thought I might mention that one of my Corvette Vintage race cars is coming up for sale (as soon as I finish putting the trim back on it after the complete new $10K paint job that was just done…..) No photos of it with the new paint yet but here‘s what it looked like a while ago (though it‘s far better looking now)…..

Basically, it’s a 1965 B Production Coupe that has been raced on the West Coast for the last 15 years or so. I’ve raced it for the last three years +/- and have had a blast with it!

Without going into great detail, this car has participated in most every race event and track out here: Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca, Wine Country Classics at Infineon Raceway (Sears Point), Portland, Washington, Las Vegas, Coronado Island, Thunderhill, Willow Springs, Reno, etc…… Perhaps it’s the pretty Blue/Black color combo or whatever, but for some reason this car seems to get photographed quite frequently and has been chosen to be on event program covers, etc. and gets invited to participate in special events/activities……

The car is absolutely “Race Ready” and fully sorted (did all you Vintage Racers cringe when I said that phrase?). I believe what Race Ready typically means is the car runs and might have made it through the last season but no guarantees on the true condition now…… That conclusion came after I bought a Race Ready car and then spent another $100k plus to get it to Race Ready for real…..

This car is very fast but the current driver (me) isn’t…. so the best I’ve done is sixth place. Another 10-20 years of practice and I’ll be right up there with the best of them….

You get the basic idea so enough of my rambling for now. Looking for $125,000 for this toy (far less than I have invested, and I have receipts to prove it) plus I’ll take you out on the track in it if you want a test ride (something else I learned is always a good idea).

If you’re curious or interested, touch base with me this week before I head to Scottsdale on Sunday the 13th, or after the 20th when I return.

Thanks for taking the time to read all this………. Charlie

Charlie,

The car looks great!!!! I bet you have a lot more in it than you are asking---I know how that goes vintage racing. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif I will pass it around down here in the Houston and Dallas areas.
Good luck on selling it, it looks like a beautiful and well done car.

Thanks Chris!

The car really is very well done, solid and reliable..... and I get to scare the bejeebers out of my friends when I take them for a ride out on the track!

I did a thorough body-off resto to it (all except paint) when I first purchased the car and finally couldn't take the rock chips any more..... it's a never ending love story.

FYI, this car is not adverstised anywhere yet. I'd be happy to pay a sizeable fee to anyone who hooks me up with a legit buyer...... so spread the word!

P.S. Here's a photo from Laguna Seca from a year or two ago. My custom built car hauler and 42' trailer is up for sale too in case anyone's interested.

Hey Chris.....

Forgot to mention.... I've been meaning to touch base with you (we probably should go private messaging with this discussion) in regards to a local Yenko Stinger Vintage race car (project) I've been trying to buy..... Need to pick your brain please.....

Good luck with the sale.
Are you going list it on the vette site?

Thanks! I think it's pretty nice too...

For the moment, I'm just going to offer it for sale on this site and see what these "characters" have to say.

When I get back from Scottsdale, I will finish putting the (small amount of) trim back on the car and then decide where to offer it from there..... I'm open to suggestions.

Had all sorts of offers to buy it when it wasn't for sale so maybe some of those guys will still be interested????????

Oh ya, I forgot to mention..... I'm basically looking for cash but might be willing to take some sort of musclecar (project or running) in trade for a small amount of the sale price..... you never know?????? Kinda partial to cars that start with C: Camaro, Chevelle, Corvette, Cuda, Challenger, Corvair, Cougar........ but I love them all !!!

After bugging Charlie for almost 6 months about this car, the deal is done and it is on its way to Wisconsin. Thanks for everything, Charlie! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

If I had had the cash right now it would have been coming to Texas. That is a very well done car.

Boy that Colin is one tough cookie to deal with... and a real gentleman. I don't think I've ever had anyone work me on a deal for six months before. Good thing he's a great guy or I would feel abused....
And don't forget the rest of our deal Colin! You still owe me a cheeseburger and a good beer!!!!
You are going to have soooooooo much fun with this car.... just promise to keep the shiny side up and in one piece if possible.

Ahh, come on Charlie, you know I was more like bookends - talked to you in January and then you just kept tempting me with the damn thing so I bought it in June so I could stop looking at the photos http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Don't worry - as a backup car for my other B Production ride I hope all the Vette does is sit in the trailer and look pretty http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

My offer stands - make it to Road America and I'll get you all the Sheboygan brats and Milwaukee beer you can stand - and you have a standing offer to take your old car around the track, too! Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival is September 19th-21st, pack your bags...

Anyone watch the races at R/A this past weekend?

Yes, turning 2:12 is pretty fast. They toss in the additional kink at the end of the carousel that has to add about five seconds to the lap time. Anyone know the top end they hit on front or back straight, I would imagine about 170 to 180. Amazing how they are on the rear tire only though much of their acceleration.

Not bad for about 200hp and two wheels.

I would say that is a very good estimate. A few years ago some "car guy" hooked up a radar, at brake marker number 5 on the back straight going into turn 5. I was clocked at 163mph and was still at WOT till BM#3. That was the fastest part of the track for our class. Wild ride going from the fastest part of the track then immediately into the slowest corner.

2:12 is very fast .. that is about what my GT1 will do . Last time there I was geared way to tall but according to my wheel speed sensor through the Motec ECU I was doing 176 on the main straight
