Not too many original owner Gran Sports around. After 38 years, the original owner let his son drive it once!

I was at Mecum last fall in St Charles and they had a 70 stage 1 which was tagged as the best survivor in the contry. It was deep blue with a black vinyl top 4 speed really a very nice car, I can remember but im pretty sure it had at least POP. I think the car came out of new york. I talked to the owner just a little bit he was very busy cleaning and keeping the dust off the car. I was suspect of the rear quarters around the wheel opennings but since I was not interested in buying anything I didnt sniff around to much. Anyway it was a top qualtiy car for waht it was presented to be, it died on the block in the low 60's.

FWIW I would have loved to have it in my garage.

it realy was nice

Nice car and nice story, but it's also been thru the Ebay auction process two or three times; perhaps he should go to Scottsdale or Florida with it if it won't reach the $$ he wants on Ebay.

I guess the answer to a six figure price for the car is "no" unless you ask.

-That way he can run it through no reserve and get $45K for it.

Nice car but any time a seller puts that "Scottsdale Threat" in there I immediately write off that car from consideration. It shows the seller's ignorance of the entire car hobby.

The second most irritating statement is "Barrett Jackson Quality" restoration....dont even get me started on that one... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

It wouldn't have been my first color choice, but I bet that car will click off 13 second 1/4 mile passes! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

....with the AC on. Unfortunately the car also is a bench with a column shifter, which hurts it tremendously from a curb appeal standpoint.

I loved it when I had my big block Nova...column shifted auto with Art Carr shift kit. I surprised MANY 4 speed cars...I think column shifts are cool! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

(of course...I have a 4 speed Chevelle...and I see your point! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Bruce,

I actually like the bench seat/column shift combo as well--my 1972 Buick GS455 convertible is thus equipped (they all came with bench seats in '72, although there were a few 4 speeds) and it's a great ride. However, I'm under no illusions that a bench/column shift has the same draw as a buckets/4 speed or a buckets/auto with floor shifter. This Stage 1 is a really nice car and I'd be happy to have it (maybe Charlie can buy it for me with the proceeds from his Super Snake sale) but the combo of brown inside/out, bench and column shifter reduce the price by some perceivable percentage.
