I have been told that gm converted during the 1970 run from a top post to a side terminal battery. I want to put new cables on my 70 (the ones on it are not correct) and was wondering if anyone knew if there was an approximate date for the camaro line when this would have taken place???????

Carl,
I believe they converted during 69, and all 70 Camaros are side post. But I have been wrong before!

It's all here. http://www.camaros.org/underhood.shtml#Batteries
The only question is when did GM switch to a side-post of the T60 HD battery.

Thanks,
with a little help from mr 70 we located the battery code on the build sheet. My car was built in the 5th week of may 1970 and it had side terminals. Im not sure if there was an actual date it may have been what was availible at the time. I think the Z may have had a larger battery maybe someone knows. The only way to be sure I guess is the build.
