What does it look like? Same as a 67 regular lid, but wider? What is the diameter?

Have you tried contacting Nelson Rudisill?
He reproduces the entire assemblies.. NKR Cowl Plenum (http://webpages.charter.net/nelsonrudisill/nkrproducts/products.htm)

Has anyone used a NKR reproduction? Are they metal bases like the originals? I can not seem to get the web site to come up.

Thanks that works better. I see they are metal bases unlike another company that has fibreglass bases. thanks

Jonesy, do you have the diameter of that lid? The one I have looks pretty darn close to that one. But it is the same outside diameter as a 69 cowl cleaner. Something like 15.5 inches? I have to measure it tonight. thx

There is a quote on their website from Jerry M stating that their work is very nice in regards to the 68 base...

Is this the same lid? It measures a little bit over 16.5 inches.

The cowl plenum air cleaner lid is 16 13/16" in diameter. That lid you show is similar but not correct. I believe it is the one used on 327 4bbls. It has rubber inside the groove around the edge whereas the real cowl plenum piece does not have any rubber there. To my understanding, Nelson Rudisill uses the style of air cleaner lid as shown in your picture because it is relatively close in appearance and then makes his own base to fit that slightly smaller lid. That way he only has to manufacture the bottom, not the whole thing.

Thats just a pic of one that I have saved for future reference. My car does not have cowl plenum, so I dont have one or need one. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

Does any one have an original lid to get exact measurements from? If mine is the same, I want to have the right verbiage for Ebay. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Kevin, 1967z28 (Jon) posted the correct dimensions for you in a previous post above.

Mark, yes I did see that, I was looking for the height, filter dia and distance from filter edge to outside edge measurements.

Kevin,

A friend of mine had a cowl plenum aircleaner without a lid and bought a lid like the one you have and it flat out did not work. Having said that, I will give you the information you are looking for.

Height: 15/16"
Filter diameter: 13 13/16"
Filter edge to outside edge of base: 1 1/8"
Base diameter: 16 1/8"
Lid diameter: 16 13/16"

I hope you and others find that information helpful.

Jon, much thanks! Too bad my lid is just a little bit bigger on every measurement http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif looks like I just have a junk lid. Thanks for the help!

Glad to be of some help even though it did not result in a match for Hugger 69 Copo's friend. Maybe one of the fiberglass repro lids would work on a temporary basis until an original was found.
