It's real... was once owned by Roger Ausley of Ausley's Chevelle Parts... sold new about 5 miles from where I'm sitting. a pretty well known car that's been on ebay and discussed here before... Lousy e-bay ad this time.

Didn't Roger Ausley also own a low mile Gobi Beige LS6 along with this red one?

Very nice patina. My Mom was born in Windber, PA where this car was delivered new. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

BTW, keep that douche bag from Portland the Hell away from this one! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I believe the owner is looking for about 300k on this car.

Whats with the hood pins? They don't look factory original? I am not a Chevy guy whats correct?

Looks to have hood lock plates on it to me. An aftermarket accessory that unfortunately requires cutting holes in the bottom of the hood to install. Not the easiest to fix properly, ask me how I know.

Not being a Chevy guy I have to ask dumb questions. What locks if any were supposed to be on there? The locks with the cables? I guess I didn't know if any locks came on the car?

Les,
The original GM hood pins were just that, studs protruding from the hood with clips and cables that attach to the core support.
This car looks to have key lock plates on it for an anti-theft measure. No cables and clips, just a flat plate with a key provision that when turned, locked the hood shut.

Les,
This is what they should look like. By the way, NO questions are too dumb to ask. Someone here is always willing to help.

Rick,

I would think this LS6 would be very well known in the Chevelle world? Has it ever been judged and date codes examined? A paint gauge put on it? I checked around on the Chevelle forums and all anyone knows about it is that it was in some magazines and Roger Ausley owned it? The current owner has never put a paint gauge on it and isn't very forthcoming with information? Essentially his position seems to be that the odometer says 4700 miles and it's been in a few magazines pay the 300K and be happy? I have only communicated with him by email and keep missing him by phone.

Les,
It is and has been very well known. I personally have never had the pleasure to inspect the car but I am pretty sure it has been completely inspected and documented. It is what it is and has been around for a long time unmolested and very much a survivor from what I know about it. I have had a copy of the buildsheet for this car as well and long before they were being faked. If you are a serious buyer, you may want to call either Chris or Jeff and talk to them and/or hire them to inspect it for you. Well worth the money.

Is this some sort of Zen Chevy guy ritual where you guys only expound in short sentences? LOL Is there a Chevy guy secret handshake because if there is Dave didn't give it to me when I bought his Yenko? LOL LOL LOL
Is Chris affliated with the car or a Chevelle expert I can hire to help the poor dumb Ford guy with trying to buy the Chevelle?

Jeff Dotterer of Dated Components.

http://datedcomponents.classicjunkyard.com/

Both Chris and Jeff were former Judges for the National Chevelle Owners Association and between the two of them, there is little they do not know about the LS-6 Chevelle and most of the existing cars out there.

As far as Chris's contact information, he is on here every day he will contact you. I don't want to give out peoples phone numbers without their permission.

Both Chris and Jeff are good people and not only honest but very easy to deal with.

Chris
the position of the pollution pump hose that goes across
from the drivers side to the pump on this car goes through the two heater hoses and not beside the heater hoses. Is this the correct location of the hose.My car has the same
location.

Peter,
I had an original survivor Astro Blue LS6 from this same plant (Lakewood) that was routed the same way except that my car had the correct hose clamp mounted to the upper alt. bracket whereas this car has the bracket that normally attaches to the inner fender up by the alternator.
Very few cars that I'd like to say we could use for reference to say how the majority were routed.
