Unless you see this one I do not think you will ever see one. As far as we know this is the only one with one caveat. There is a person who claims to have one. I have never seen any documntation or the car and I do not know anyone that has. This is the only other claim to one of any kind that those of us involved with Buicks know about. Here is some eye candy: http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg23/bingokid/1970%20Buick%20GSX%20%20455%20Stage%201%20Yellow/1970%20Buick%20GS%20455%20Stage%201%20Convertible% 20Triple%20Black/3blackside.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg23/bingokid/1970%20Buick%20GSX%20%20455%20Stage%201%20Yellow/1970%20Buick%20GS%20455%20Stage%201%20Convertible% 20Triple%20Black/3blackmirror.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg23/bingokid/1970%20Buick%20GSX%20%20455%20Stage%201%20Yellow/1970%20Buick%20GS%20455%20Stage%201%20Convertible% 20Triple%20Black/3blackinside.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg23/bingokid/1970%20Buick%20GSX%20%20455%20Stage%201%20Yellow/1970%20Buick%20GS%20455%20Stage%201%20Convertible% 20Triple%20Black/black100_2513.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg23/bingokid/1970%20Buick%20GSX%20%20455%20Stage%201%20Yellow/1970%20Buick%20GS%20455%20Stage%201%20Convertible% 20Triple%20Black/bbattachment.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg23/bingokid/1970%20Buick%20GSX%20%20455%20Stage%201%20Yellow/1970%20Buick%20GS%20455%20Stage%201%20Convertible% 20Triple%20Black/blackstagetrans.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg23/bingokid/1970%20Buick%20GSX%20%20455%20Stage%201%20Yellow/1970%20Buick%20GS%20455%20Stage%201%20Convertible% 20Triple%20Black/attachment5.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg23/bingokid/1970%20Buick%20GSX%20%20455%20Stage%201%20Yellow/1970%20Buick%20GS%20455%20Stage%201%20Convertible% 20Triple%20Black/Blackatagedriveshaft.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg23/bingokid/1970%20Buick%20GSX%20%20455%20Stage%201%20Yellow/1970%20Buick%20GS%20455%20Stage%201%20Convertible% 20Triple%20Black/BlackstagerearendOO.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg23/bingokid/1970%20Buick%20GSX%20%20455%20Stage%201%20Yellow/1970%20Buick%20GS%20455%20Stage%201%20Convertible% 20Triple%20Black/Blackstagecowlenginea.jpg

Beautiful Buick! Reminds me very much of the one I sold five years ago except it was a 4-speed hardtop. There'e just something special about black on a Buick musclecar.

there is a black one here in the Columbus area, but it's not a stage 1 car..
i saw it at Tritex interiors getting a new interior a few years back.
it was a bench seat column shift car.

Thanks. You of all people know what it takes to do one of these cars. The parts are chicken lips.

The proof in the quality of the resto is in the details. On our two cars we have dated coded alternators, voltage regulators, correct date coded stage 1 distributors, carburetors, etc. They even have the correct date coded water pumps rebuilt from cores.

I sometimes see people rely on points grades on a 400 point max concours rules system for Buicks. I think that most do not realize that the current Buick Concours Rules do not require say a 70 stage 1 to have even a stage 1 engine or a stage 1 trans or stage 1 carb or stage 1 distributor ect. You can score 400 points with the engine from another car that is not even a stage 1! It is not a judged criteria. All that you need is a 70 455 from say a station wagon.

The break point between gold and silver, as I recall, is 485. So, for example, if you have the incorrect reproduction (nonthin) door handles you lose a point. So if you have none of the other important drivetrain parts listed above you still score 399 out of 400 and are classified as gold. And you can have 14 or 15 defficiencies like the incorrect handles plus not have any of the critcal drive train parts and still be judged as meeting the gold standards. This is not to say that the car is still not a great looking car but it illustrates not all restos are equal. And sure you can find something to talk about on any resto if you look hard enough.

Yes Jim I understand! Dave Kleiner and I talk about this all the time. I hope to have mine back from him this spring. Chasing parts has been a real chore. But if your gonna do it right. Then do it right!!!

Both of your cars are awesome. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

I spent years chasing parts. I feel sorry for those who are in my wake. If a Buick moved I shot it and put it in my bag.

To their belief there may have been no published test for that car. It was a fast car with a great engine and light body.

Hmmm, no 69's, not even the L78 much less a COPO. What is interesting is that the 70 Z28 small block was almost a dead on for the 67 Dana 427!
