Last year at B-J (2007).....There was a Documented "Killer" 66 Impala Convert (Black on Black) L-72 car that was sold for $100,000 plus.......Car was parked inside in the Feature Car section with everyone Drooling over it.......Found this info on another Site...........Can't find the B-J thread from last year to repost the pic's (maybe Bruce can)......Interesting Read..
That Black 67 SS427 car that sold for like 100K was returned to the seller ( I know who he is but won't mention his name) because the car was a total fabrication! It WAS an original SS car, but was not a black car originally, was not a 4 speed car, was not a 427 car (was a 396 Turbo 400 as I recall), and was not a Z24 car. Other than that, it was gorgeous. The buyer found out about the bogus nature of the car when he was contacted by the original seller of the car (who sold it to the gentleman who sold it at Barrett) and returned it to Barrett and they in turn returned it to the seller, charged him the full 18% sales and buyers commisions, charged him to have the car sent back to him, and have excluded him from ALL future sales with their firm. BAD NEWS all the way around.

That's good news for you.
Didn't you want to own it back then, which means you probably can now and for alot less then Paulette's purse has in it.
When life hands you lemons..hold onto em!

Yep............That's it........Thanks for finding the Pic's..........I think with all of the Negative speculation about B-J.......This is a Pretty Positive response on their part to resolving the Issue http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Ken,
Great to meet you and Paulette at R&S! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif I sure do like BJs response. That'll fix his little red wagon!
Just wish they would screen the cars better BEFORE the auction. Thanks for sharing this. It has provided the slightest glimmer of hope that there is hope for BJ and company.

Ken,
Was the other site talking about the '66 convert being a fabrication or the '67 SS427 fastback? I have pictures of the Black '67 SS427 from B-J last year.

I figured with the sckuttlebutt on the BJ auction this kind of thing is going to happen more often. As they get more desperate to get popular cars for their auction the more questionable cars are going to make it through.

They can't research each and every car. If the guy selling the car lies about it and gets caught it is going to cost him. To me as a buyer I feel better knowing that if the car is mis-represented I have the option of not taking the car.

The car that you are referring to is the second picture. It was in the tent outside last year. It was not the first picture.

A friend of mine from Calgary, Alberta bought the triple black 66 427 Impala Convertible at Barrett last year for $124K. When I read your story I thought it must be his car that you were referring to so, I called him. As far as he knows it's still in his garage in Calgary. I think the story you shared from another website is just another BJ Rumor.

Want to watch something FUNNY ?? Watch the guy buying the Dusenberg bid up his own purchase.
Dont know if the TV caught me yelling at the guy that the 800K was his own and the auctioneer said NO its not.. The guy bidded another 50K. Guy still paid cheap 1 mill for the car. People just get lost with ALL the noice and camara's in your face.
A few us were yelling at guys that they were weak for loosing a car and they just kept going up,up and up. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif
