The original ones on my 70 Chevelle have no part numbers on them.

If they came on the car from the factory they would have no numbers. If you got them over the counter, the number was lasered on to them.
That's true up to a point.
Originally the tips sold OTC w/o a part # stamped in them.Sometime around the late 1970's,early 80's they started to stamp them in.Exactly when I don't know, but I've seen a few sets NOS in the box that did not have a number stamped into them, and I have a set here in the box dated 1976 that doesn't as well.
GM later issued the license for these to be reproduced, and they released them with the part #'s stamped in the bottom, but some have been found on top as well.

I have had them Rick with the numbers on both the top and bottom on the same tip or individually stamped either top or bottom. Also the NOS ones I had with no numbers were a rolled edge tip. Have also had square edge and bevel edge. The weight, chrome quality and thickness was also very noticable between the various styles.

I was told these are selling for betweem $300 and $400 on Ebay. That is why I priced them at $325. Just talked to someone who thinks I'm too high so I'm lowering my price to $225 shipped.

Here is a comparison between the early and late tips and boxes. The ones without the numbers are the early tips.

Mr70`s carpet is more circa "Brady Bunch" http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif ....while yours is NOS 80%/20% Ivy Gold loop from circa 1970. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Hi Rick:
Did any 70's come with the unmarked, rolled edge tips. I had a NOS set that I sold that came in the yellow/white boxes. These were weld on tips. Hard to see but yours look like clamp on?? Were the rolled edge ones 69 only.

Joe,
Yes....the rare rolled tips were only used on the early built 69 Chevelles.

Thanks Dan for the clarification. They must be rare since they sold for over 4X what my other sets of 70 ones did.
