View Full Version : 1969 427/390 Caprice value?
I have run across a '69 Caprice, 427/390, dark blue/black buckets, TH400 w/console shifter, ps, pb, a/c, elec. windows, ralleys. It is an unmolested, running car, no docs, born-with drive train, everything is there. Body needs work due to surface rust, small hole in trunk pan, interior ok but presentable. Guy is asking $10,000. I already have a '69 Impala SS427 and have been disappointed at the money these things bring so don't know if the Caprice is worth fooling with. Any input appreciated. Can get some pics if necessary.

I sold a 427 Impala a few years ago and it was loaded with options and super nice body with beautiful paint. I sold the car for around 15K. 427 Impala pictures (http://www.fototime.com/inv/DE76EF1C22A4049)

HI Joe:
You asked for feedback so I will give my 2 cents. You know the following of these big cars if you own a 69 Impala ss.
The Caprice is probally worth the 10K if you are looking for a BBC driver to load the family in and go.If you are looking for a return on the dollars you will invest into this car to get it the way you want it I think in the end you will lose money.
I have seen mint ones as you have, sell for 12-15000.A good paint job on this one will put you over that.
Take care
Joe
I feel the same way, just a neat car, all there, shame to let it waste away though. Just wanted some thoughts, guess I will pass.

I sold a 427 Impala SS 'vert match nos. that needed a resto for $6,500 and it was a solid car. The 'verts have since picked up a bit but for some reason, Impalas have more interest than Caprices. Did the car you looked at have the hidden headlight option?

It really was a nice car and i wish i still had it, great conversation piece.
No hidden headlight option but quite a few others for a Caprice. Body too rough for me though.
