On a 69 Nova SS grill are the 4 flat head rivets @ the upper flange blacked out along with the blockout trim on the SS grill, or were they bare ?
BKH how do you guys do them ?

Mike, leave them bare or natural.. Attached is a picture of Joe Swezey's 69 SS Dana Nova restored by the Supercar Workshop.. Picture is kind of tiny but you can see the rivets were left natural. I acquired this photo from the 2006 Nova Nationals from the Nova Research Site... I also have some old, vintage photos here at home that show the rivets as natural from original, unrestored cars..

We have in the past left them natural, but I think there is evidence they could go either way...BKH

Guys, thanks for the feedback. Interesting that they may have been both ways.
I find it strange that any painting was done after the upper support was riveted on, however it may have been a vendor thing ?? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
Maybe someone else will chime in.

Its a lot easier to just paint the whole thing black. Perhaps age was also a cause for the paint to flake off the aluminum rivits...BKH http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Exactly, I always thought that the alum rivets did not hold the paint very well. This is one of those things that is hard to figure out bec/ it's 38 years after the fact!

The grill is blacked out on the SS cars and not on the standard car?? Maybe that is the reason.
