I can't seem to be able to find the original part number for the 69 L-78 Chevelle (with smog) fan/alternator belt. I'm trying to get the correct belt from Quanta, but it's just not happening!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif This is suppose to be the easy stuff http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
The correct BB 1969-70 A.I.R. equipped fan belt from Quanta is B-603 and measures 3/8" X 47-1/2" for $27.00 HERE (http://www.quantaproducts.com/prodinfo.asp?number=29-B-603).

Thanks Rick. Thats what I needed to know. They sent me B-589-B which says it's for 427 C.I. COPO.. Shouldn't L-78 and COPO use the same belt? The power steering belt they sent me is B-591, which appears to be correct??
Yes,they are the same...A saw that awhile ago too.
Quanta doesn't recognize that the COPO belt is actually an A.I.R. belt. They made a mistake there in the description and I informed them that's not the correct belt #,but I guess they never changed it.

OK Thanks Rick. I'll be calling them again tomorrow. If they would have fixed the problem when you pointed it out, this wouldn't have happened AGAIN!!

They charge you enough for the belt, $27. Its like a slap in the face when they hit you for another $11 shipping.

The no smog belt is not the one thats listed wrong. The belt they sent me was for COPO with A.I.R..... It's long enough, but it's not thick enough to run in the deep pulley's. The one they list for 70 L-78's is the right one.
Your right about the shipping Jim. It cost $12.00 to send it to me thru UPS, and it cost me $4.00 to send it back. Many of the mail order company's do this now. Thats how they make money. They're all in the shipping business.

Has anyone tried the B-589C belt? I have an L-78 w/o air pump and this belt every bit as long as the B-451 which is for a 427 with air pump. I am just now starting to install the belts and will try Quanta and see what they say, just curious if anyone has had this problem.
