View Full Version : Trim numbers and PNT numbers for Novas

I am looking to find out what the vast majority of color combos where out there for the 3rd gen Novas, mainly 68-72.
I look through these numbers books and various other sites, but that doesn't really tell me what combos were more popular than another. And there's always the repaint and reupholster factor as well. So what does the trim tag have to offer? For example, my TRM number is 740 and my PNT numbers are 50 50. It's not important about current color combos on your cars, unless it's restored, but what the tag has listed originally. Any info or pictures would be greatly appreciated as always.

My 07B built 68 SS is a AA Tuxedo Black car with 737 standard cloth blue bench interior. Very cool looking IMO. The car came with all the exterior decor available but a standard interior.

That's exactly what mine looks like, except for the body side molding. Did it have carpet or rubber mat?

This VIN and Trim tag is off a 68 SS Chevy II I tried to buy for several years. I never did and it is pretty rough these days.

Gold interior and exterior what is the 6 for. A gold top maybe? (G-6)

Jason, that is awsome!
Tommy

I think so Jason. I have seen vinyl top codes 1-4 in print before but not 5 or 6. 1=white, 2=black, 3=green, 4=blue. At least for 68 models anyway. Everything else on that 68 was gold so I guess the top could have been as well.

In 69, they had black, parchment, dark blue, brown and midnight green. But in 68 it was only listed as black or white. And Jason, your 2 denoted black?

Here is a cool thread that I found for a great looking Nova. Nova (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=287205) I think it might be a TRM of 731 and a PNT - -? When is the L78 going in that beauty?

Guys, you would ruin Tom's orange 70 Nova if you put a big block in it. That car is very cool the way it is. I saw it in person out at National Nostalgic Nova in York, PA when Wayne Bushey owned it. Wayne told me when he took that car to the Nova Nats. more people were interested in looking and admiring it than they were some of the big block SS cars. This was because it is unique and something you don't see everyday. An old, original, six banger Nova!! How COOL is that??

But it is super cool they way it sits http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

You could order hugger orange in late 70. It was called a spring time offering along with citrus green, and sunflower yellow.
In 69 you had to special order the h/o on novas --. We have a 69-- h/o L78 nova in the shop now that belongs to a member here. It has a black vinyl top, but we believe that may have been dealer installed.
Sold new from Grossman.

How many in the hugger orange did they make in an l78 I wonder, that orange is cool.

I expect there were a few, but this is the only one I've ever personally seen. Grossman was in the Yenko dealer network. They knew performance cars, and how to order what you wanted. It doesn't surprise me that this car came from there.
There were 10 H/O Yenko deuces built in 70. Should be one in Pa. close to being finished with it's resto soon. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

I put that up there to bust Wilmas butt! He told me that color combos are not the numbers to look for. The only thing to look for is L78! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif I don't care that it's a 6cyl, I would love it and hug it and squeeze it, just cause it's original. I wouldn't hug it or squeeze it too hard because I might get orange juice. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drool.gif
