If anyone here is familiar with Delaware and their black plate program, the same principal applies. Low numbers go for stupid money

Delaware license number 6 sold this weekend at auction for $675,000. Local developer bought it. He also bought number 9 in 1993 for $185,000

Mike,

Are you serious?! $675,000 for a single digit license plate? Are people going crazy? What's the point?

Nuch,
It's a Delaware thing. They have actually turned out to be good investments for some people.

I know a guy in Delaware who tracked down plate #409. The owner GAVE it to him to use on his car. .......OF course, he never drives his car http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Low number plates for big dough is not just a Deleware thing. It has been going on in Illinois for decades. It used to be if you "knew someone" you could get a low digit plate number or just 1 or 2 letters. Or you could make a generous enough political contribution to your favorite Crook County politician and you would get a low letter or number plate. I would love to see the list of plates in IL that are 1-99 or A-Z. I bet it reads like a list of who's who.
