What should I do with the wheels?

Im looking for some input. I was thinking of going back to the stock wheel color. I was wondering what everyone else thinks (be nice I have low self esteem, and could use to loose a few pounds http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif). The cars finish looks very good in the photo, for lack of a more descripive term, it is a 20 footer. There may be a undesireable contrast at this point between nice new wheels and a semi survivor type paint job.

What do you guys think?

Looks good to me! If you are tired of those wheels and tires go to a Day-2 set. Maybe some Keystones and some nice RWL Goodyears? L60's in the back and F70's in the front? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif Darren has a nice combo. Good luck!

I'd keep it all stock! Looks like a great car.!! Classic industries has the correct wheel paint in a rattle can made by OEM. It is the absolute correct color and has the correct texture that those wheels had when new. It's on page 454 of their latest Camaro catalog and the order # is 11010. It's a little pricey at 50 bucks a can, and you'll need 2 cans to do all 4 wheels, but it's the best you'll find in a rattle can and its the right color and texture. I'd also put the correct Goodyear Polyglass GT's (F60 X 15) back on as well....they are available from Kelsey Tire. Great car...keep it all stock!!!

I think it would look best with the correct paint also. I have not seen any painted with the paint from Classic Industries, If you go that route show us a close up photo here so we can see how they look.

I say go with some chromed out 20 inch dub wheels and ultra low rim denting profile tires..............sorry off my meds for a second.............go OE color and wheels it will look great on a great car. I would not worry too much about the wheel paint outdoing your body paint, it will stick out more to you than the rest of the world.

I used this paint on the wheels from my 70 Z and I highly recomend it. It has the corect texture as well as the color. I read that GM textured these wheels back in the 70's to emulate the look of the Tork Thrust D wheel and the texture of this paint is dead on IMO. OEM paint is almost always right on in the color, and in this case the texture as well.

Thanks for the offer John, The Kelsey Hayes wheels are super.

I really like the stock wheels, and will most likely run with them. I was leaning tward repainting them back to the stock color but I'm unsure if the contrast between the old paint & new wheel paint will look strange.

Here is the correct paint. Can on the left is for the back side of the wheels and the jack base, Can on the right is for the front side of the wheel. Despite what it says, do not clear coat if you want a correct finish. That's what I've gathered from reading the posts of people who know this kinda stuff.

That is, if you want to paint them back stock.

Here's a pic of what the paint from Classic Industries looks like in direct sun light. I still contend that the color and the texture are dead on...and being in a rattle can, what could possibly be any easier!

If the flat finish is used how do you seal it or protect it from dirt, brake dust etc. And better yet how do you clean them without screwing up the finish??? Does anyone know about the laquer products listed in the above link??

The wheels do come out really good. Road dirt and brake dust wash right off, with no problems. These "five spoke" wheels are making a strong come back.
