Didn't it just sell on ebay a few months ago?

Would have thought that one would have been a keeper.

No it wasnt on ebay a few months ago.. if it was it was a scammer.. A friend of mine has it on right now while we working on some other deals. Prices is 250k The car speaks for itself, It is invited to be part of the feature display at Chevy-Vette fest next month and were making ever effort to have car theyre.. Im sure that offer would be extended to the new owner if it sells. Any questions about the car PM me. Thanks Andy

They also just recently made a slot car (electric race track car) of the Red Alert the car definatley has a following and alot of people remember it.

So maybe it was more than a few months ago, my mistake.

From Team Chevelle:

"I watched it sell at the Spring 06 Mecum Auction for 200k plus fees = $210k. It went to a board member here who put it on eBay no reserve in October 06. I don't remember what it sold for on eBay (or if it really sold) but it was substantially less than than what was paid at Mecum. Then in January 07 it sold at Barrett Jackson for 140k, which would be 128800. to the seller and 154k paid by the buyer. It will be interesting to see what it does this time around."

The car has taken a few up and down in price but has never been promoted correctly for a sale and sometimes never even wiped off at a sale (Barret for instance), I dont think ebay is the place where it will sell.

Ive cleaned the car up alot from the last couple of years it has been forsale and fixed alot of little things.

I still think the car is one of the best preserved Super Stock cars in the country granted its had some updates but its still pretty much in the race form it was in the 70's. There is NO question to what this car has always been and as most will agree a mostly original car is worth WAY more than a restored car any day of the week.

If there was Sox and Martin car with the mostly untouched quality the Red Alert car has the price would be out of this world. If I was a betting man with the way the Race car crazy has come into factor in collecting, I would have to say this car will be worth a small mint some day especially if its taken off the market and tucked away for 5 or so years. I wish I didnt have so many irons in the fire because it is a keeper.

Andy and others...

Is the car in its 1970's configuration as we speak? I was thinking one of the reasons its never commanded bigger money like the Sox and Martin Mopars was because maybe it is not in its race glory trim? I know little (at best) about this car. It just needs a good home!

This is indeed correct. The invitation for the Red Alert stands for the new owner also.

This car is indeed a genuine bit of Chevrolet Racing History and I would be honored to have it as a part of our LS6 Showcase at Chevy Vettefest.

Dan,

No its still not back to being in 100% 70' era race form and I agree with you on that. It wouldnt to hard to bring it back with a little parts hunting. Ive changed a few things to be more period correct but still as of right now if you wanted to race the car all you'd need is a new set of tires, and for me I guess I kinda of like it that way just incase I got the bug to run it. If the car went to a museum it would be nice to see it back to its 100% glory.

I agree it does need a good home.

Thanks Andy. In no way shape or form was this a knock... just was wondering from outside prospective.

Good luck!

I remember this car when I was younger. I'm 44 now. I used to have the model. Great car. This car has a lot of history. Good luck on the sale. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Can-I-Have-It.gif

-----Andy,,,I wish you the best with the sale. You have been a great caretaker. Hopefully, the new owner will have as much fun as I did with the most famous Chevelle on earth. The changes I made to the car were only done to be able to run legally at any track, anywhere, and as you stated, can be easily reversed. The many appearances to match race over the years necessitated a drivetrain that was bullet-proof, not 100% legal, per se.

-----Hopefully, this blatant thread rip will be tolerated. I have only a few of the diecast "Red Alert" models left. They are all the second non-Branch Motor Express version. They come complete, perfect, and unopened with copies of the original window sticker and build-sheet. Contact me and Ill get one to any member for the friendly price of $35.00 plus shipping. A donation to this great sight will also be made for every model sold.......Thanks to all,,,,,Bill S,,,Ol Red
