Are they the same as the Chevelle? Here's the one in my 71 ElCamino with EEC. Its got a single drain hose coming out of the bottom and the filter changes from the bottom.

carl,
I have a nice original bracket and canister from a 73 Z/28. I'm pretty sure they are the same.

Steve Ill Call you tommorow,

The bracket looks different that the chevelle, It has three legs (maybe two)which bolt onto the frame right next to the steering box the legs are most likely of slightly different lenghts and two of them are closer together than the other.

I would imaging that the 70 and 73 would be the same

This is what it should look like when it is holding th canister

Im still looking!

I think the 73 and maybe the 72 have a different bracket (support #3977535) I think the windshield washer tank was moved in 72 or 73 to the inner fender well and the cannister was moved to the spot where the washer tank was???

Can anyone help?

Also the LS6 Cannister appears to be the same as the z28 with the 4 connections

Any help or parts??? also the clip #3977988

Thanks

Solid lifter engines used the 4 line inlet cannister, and those with hydra lifters used 3 line inlet,so yes the LS-6 is the same cannister as your Z/28.

For 1970,each vehicle used it's own unique bracket/support design originally, and was not interchangeable with another vehicle. All 1970 NA-9 equipped Camaros were assembled on the line with support bracket #3975535.
That was then redesigned in 1971 and became support bracket #3988276 and that one was also shared on the Impala/Caprice/Biscayne/Belair and Vega and I believe includes the Station Wagon series too.
The #276 bracket was used on all the above mentioned vehicles from 1971 through 1975 also.

The clip they used on the assembly in 1970 was #3977988 and was used on ALL NA-9 equipped vehicles from 6cyl to 8cyl.It was continuely used on ALL NA-9 vehicles from 1971-75 too.

My 70 CA Nova NA9 has 2 of the clips you are refering to. They used the upper one for the Lighting harness and the lower one for the Smog hoses. I wiil attach a assy manual pic. If you find a CA NA9 Nova it will have 2 no matter what the eng. displacement. I had a original AZ. Sold L48 Nova I purchased and it had the same 2 clips also. The Camaro cannister brackets are rarer than the Novas though and the 4 port Cans are very rare too. Z28, L78 and LS6 only. Hope this helps

Carl....I have done a little more research on these clips and found that most of the early to mid 70s Chevrolet cars had them. It seems that 72-up that the NA9 cars were sold throughout the lower 48 so you do not have to be looking at CA. cars only. It seems that all V8 Chevrolets in this era like Impalas, Caprice, Monte Carlos, Chevelle, Camaro V8 cars had (1) mounted on the fenderwell and the V8 Novas had (2) In my earlier post I mentioned all Novas had them but I meant V8 cars. It seems the 4 & 6 cyl. cars did not use them. I will keep my eyes open for you. I have seen NOS canisters on ebay with different and possible superceded #s. Here are (3) 4 ports that I know of 7028024 7028137 and 7036968. I have finally found a Chevrolet Parts History manual at a reasonable price that is on its way but have not recieved it yet. I will see if there is any superceded #s on the clip you want also. I was told by a reputable GM NOS dealer that Clip # 3977988 is also #472854. When I get the book I will see if this rings true. The book Im getting is 1965-73. He may have one that goes further. I will get back with you.

Thanks for the info. If you find anything let me know. This is a photo of johnyhorsepower's green 70 from chevy fest (unfortunately it was the only photo of the car which did not turn out, go figure)

It has the 3 line can on it. Im beginning to wonder if the assembly manual is not inclusive of all variations. The green car is a manual, mine is an m40???? anyway they are both van nuys cars????
