A buddy sent me this http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif
This is the ultimate Drag Race, but it is between a 1000 HP Bugatti Veyron and a Jet Fighter. This is very well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The two will start side by side from a standstill, The car will go 1 mile, slow down enough to turn around on a full width runway, then come back the 1 mile. The fighter will take off as quickly as possible, go straight up 1 mile, turn around and come back down to about 100' off the deck to fly parallel to the car to attempt to cross the Finish Line first.
Who will win http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif?

If the jet had to travel one mile (5,280 feet up + 5,280 down) in vertical flight then you have to add his takeoff distance (about 2,500 feet) plus his distance back to the start/finish line (same 2,500 feet). He therefore covered more distance than the car and still won. In total, the car covered two miles (out and back) and the jet covered about three miles adding his takeoff distance and return distance to the two vertical miles (out and back + up and down).
Hey, it's the Internet, someone has to nit-pick this. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

At least he kept it sub-sonic. If he'd lit the burners on the return level flight, it would have been no contest at all. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
Hat's off to the RAF for allowing this nonsense at all. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif

I wonder if the Bugatti guys are pissed? Probably not. They know that car is bad-ass. Yeah, the Brits are much more laid-back than we are! You'd never see a stunt like this performed at a U.S. airbase--with command approval that is.

C130 lands on USS Forestal (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjNyQvhsQE8&feature=related) Not a stunt. I ran many a plane watch behind carriers but never saw anything this size land in 500'.

The C-130 landing on the carrier deck settled an argument I
had with a friend. I told him "no way" a C-130 could land
on a carrier deck due to the short length of the deck. Forgetting
that this is a Forrestal class carrier to boot! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
I'm amazed. I would bet he landed into the wind though.
