Can anyone help? Does this stamp look legitimate? Hopefully this post is OK in this forum. Thank you. The car is a Fremont built 1967 L79 El Camino.

You need to clean the paint off so it's easier to see.

Looks a little heavy on the stamping to me.Most original stampings are on the lighter side.

Danny,

Take a razor edge to the stamp pad and repost that image.

Danny,According to my parts book if it says ER on it.It's a 1967 Chevelle 327 Special High Performance and A.I.R.
Let me know if it's something else and I can look it up for ya.

Thanks. I guess my concern is the stamping itself and the fact that is an L79 but no vin is present. The casting date is 8-22-66. The car has the POP with the same info as the stamp. The trans and rear are correct also. Thanks again.

Would that plant have stamped vin on the back of the block at the oil filter? I know at some point certain plants were doing this, but I don't know when, where or what models. Just a thought.

My 67 SB Chevelle has the code stamp with no VIN that I can find anywhere. Luckily it matches the POP and was original when I rebuilt it.

I had been told that all the HiPo small blocks got the Vin stamped on the pad starting in 65. And mostly all small blocks by 67. However some plants as we know, did things differently. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

good luck. 67 elco rocks!!
